Whitetail Cabin | Couple's Retreat w/ Hot Tub

Summary:
Whitetail Cabin is the ideal spot for a couple’s retreat or small family getaway. The open-concept kitchen, dining, and living room features a cozy electric fireplace and 70” TV, offering a welcoming space to relax. Enjoy the large screened-in porch, hot tub, and propane grill on the lower patio. Nearby, explore local wineries, great restaurants, and scenic hiking trails for a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.

The Space:
Welcome to Whitetail Cabin, a cozy retreat where nature and comfort come together. Originally one of the mountain’s first hunting cabins, this property sits just down the road from a private airstrip (now hidden under the communities newer homes) once used by Washington, D.C.’s hunting community as an escape from the city. Today, it has been thoughtfully updated into a welcoming getaway, perfect for couples, families, and small groups looking to relax in the scenic Blue Mountains.

Step inside to an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area, designed for gathering and relaxation. The living room features a fireplace with an electric insert, creating a warm and inviting space to unwind. The kitchen is fully stocked with high-quality cookware and top-tier appliances, including a Vitamix blender, KitchenAid mixer, and Instant Pot. While there’s no full-size oven, the Calphalon® Performance Countertop Convection Oven and Air Fryer meet nearly all cooking needs. The kitchen island seats four, and the dedicated coffee station offers a Keurig, cold press, and a selection of coffees and teas to start your day right.

The cabin features two comfortable bedrooms. The primary bedroom offers a king-sized bed, while the second bedroom features a twin trundle bed with two twin mattresses and a dedicated workspace with a desk, ideal for remote work. The bathroom includes a tiled shower as well as washer and dryer.

For those who love outdoor living, the 275-square-foot screened-in porch extends your space, offering a perfect spot for dining al fresco or relaxing with a book. Just below, the lower patio features a propane grill, seating, and a private hot tub, creating a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.

Whether you're here to soak in the history, explore the outdoors, or work remotely with a view, Whitetail Cabin is the perfect escape for making lasting memories.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire cabin including screened-in porch, patio, and hot tub. The crawl space under the cabin should only be accessed in the event of an emergency.

The Neighborhood:
Whitetail Cabin is nestled in the small mountain community of Skyland Estates in Virginia's Blue Mountains. The area is a mix of full-time residents, second homes, and short term rentals.

Getting Around:
While we encourage you to take a stroll using the mountain roads, a vehicle will be required to reach nearby attractions. The property can easily accommodate up to two vehicles in the driveway.

Other Things to Note:
PROPERTY GUIDE
Once your booking is confirmed, you'll receive a comprehensive property guide highlighting the area’s best wineries, hiking trails, restaurants, and outdoor adventures. It also includes detailed property information and FAQs to help you prepare for and enjoy your stay to the fullest.

SPEACIAL OCCASION & PREMIUM SERVICES
We offer several special occasion decorating options and other services to make your romantic getaway worry free and one of a kind. Our most popular option is our premium package that includes Champagne, fresh flowers, balloons, and decor for $320. These typically require at least five days advance notice, but we may be able to accommodate last minute requests on a case by case basis.

PETS
We love hosting your furry companions and welcome up to two dogs. Please include them in your reservation and a pet fee will automatically be included in your reservation total. Additional dogs may be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to additional fees to compensate for potential extra wear and tear at the property and additional cleaning regimens that we undertake. Note that emotional support animals (ESAs) are designated as pets and subject to these fees and other pet policies. Service animals are always welcome, but please let us know about them in advance so we can let our cleaning team know.

FAMILY FRIENDLY AMENITIES
We offer a pack n' play crib and full-sized freestanding highchair for families traveling with young ones.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
The final stretch of roads leading to the property is unpaved but well maintained. Most of the year, 2WD vehicles can access the property without issue. However, during snow or icy conditions, 4WD or AWD may be recommended or required. We will do our best to notify you in advance if winter or severe weather is expected, offering guidance on safe access. Full refunds are typically only provided if the property is inaccessible for more than 24 hours by 4WD or AWD vehicles.

GUEST SAFETY & WELLNESS
Your safety and well-being are our top priority. All bedding, including sheets, quilts, and blankets, is washed between reservations. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are installed in all bedrooms, and fire extinguishers are available throughout the property.

The area is surrounded by wildlife - you will regularly see deer and may even sneak a peak at a black bear hanging out on the mountain. While the property rarely houses critters of its own, the occasional bug or tiny creature may make a visit! Just let us know if anything is out of the ordinary.

Great cabin in the mountains
This place checks all the boxes! It’s a cozy place with a great view and hot tub. The only niggle is the door to the patio has a crack in it so air seeps through. Otherwise, fantastic place!

Quiet and Secluded
We had a fantastic stay. The property is beautiful, clean, and perfect for a couple looking for a quiet getaway. It’s about 15-20 minutes from downtown Front Royal, a half hour from Shenandoah, and has plenty of wineries surrounding it. Matt was responsive to any questions and super helpful. As stated in the description the property is off some roads that are dirt/gravel and get narrow. Would highly recommend something with 4WD or AWD to get there. We would highly recommend this property.
