There was a warm welcome from the owner, who also runs the Bar Tabac next door. There is a small breakfast room with a lounge area. This is a simple, basic hotel but the room was quite large, with a desk and nice TV, and a nice ensuite with a shower rather than a bath. Breakfast was bread & jam, pastries, orange juice, cereal, yogurt, coffee/tea/hot chocolate. When I left, the owner kindly called me a taxi to the airport.
I walked as far as the cathedral and botanical gardens, and on the way is the picturesque old town with lots of interesting shops and restaurants, and a couple of museums, fine arts and a Resistance museum. (Avoid the creperie by the cathedral - all the tables around me seemed to be waiting for ages and I gave up & walked away in the end.) Beyond Galleries Lafayette are the big shops. Limoges is a big city but I felt that staying in this hotel enabled me to walk to all the places I wanted to see.
