Excellent as always
This is the third time we have stayed at Croft Meadows Farm and this time was the best yet. There has been quite a bit of investment in the property since we were last here with new bathrooms and a new boiler. Emma and Matt look after the property and the guests cannot do enough to make sure your stay is enjoyable and to make sure you have everything you need. There was 4 adults, 3 kids and a teenager in our group and there was plenty of space for us all. The garden is a lovely place to sit and relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine depending on the time of day. A car is essential as it is very rural and situated down a long track, however this does make it extremely peaceful and a wonderful place to switch off. We will be back!

We had a lovely time at the house, which was as described and the approach no where near as bad as some reviews have made out. The beds were comfortable and the cookies delicious! Emma was very helpful and April a delightful bonus visitor.

Great country getaway house
Loved the property which everybody agreed had been renovated to a high standard. Matt and Emma were friendly and helpful hosts in every way. Would highly recommend it to anyone like e arranging a family retreat/reunion needing five bedrooms. One constructive suggestion: Needs a sigpost on the last turnoff to the farm as most people (including me on several occasions) missed it completely.

Beautiful country retreat.
We spent a long weekend for a family reunion just before Christmas at Croft Meadows. The house is spacious, with a very large qns comfortable open plan living/dining room with lots of different sitting spaces - perfect for a large group. The heating was a total godsend given the freezing weather outside: even my 87 year old Dad felt toasty! The cottage is very well equipped for cooking and baking too, making catering for a large group easy. Our hosts (Emma and Matt) were brilliant. Lovely, welcoming and so laid back but super efficient. The setting is idyllic with easy walks out (even in the snow!) through stunning scenery. A perfect stay and would definitely come back and recommend to others.

We stayed for a wedding which was very local to the house, our host Emma was excellent nothing too much trouble. I would recommend the rural location but it was also close enough to local towns like leek , Buxton, bake well etc

Stunning scenery but the cottage needs work - some urgently
First the best points = Emma and Matt are excellent - the scenery is stunning. Now the not so good points - the heating is antiquated, very loud and the radiators are either going full blast or stone cold - the radiator valves don't work - needs servicing or replacing. In this age of very high bills it must be costing them a fortune - particularly with Autumn and Winter coming. The downstairs accessible room - possibly not used much - was very musty and took us three days to get that smell from the room. The accessible wetroom - for my disabled wife - was 30 METRES from that bedroom and was DISGUSTING. Emma did her best to help us but if we had not had a wedding to go to on the Thursday - we had booked Monday to Monday - we would have left on the Tuesday. We left on Friday after the wedding. The kitchen needs updating and we had to clean out the dishwasher and the washing machine before we could use them. Lastly the track to the cottage is a NIGHTMARE and should not be attempted by anything except an SUV or you risk serious damage to your cars suspension. In conclusion Emma and Matt were very good but they do not own the property and cannot make changes which are obviously needed.

Nice farm house
Good property - very remote and what we were looking for. It shows like the pictures, We had a family reunion and it worked well for us overall. I would stay there again and recommend to others. Internet was not great given we were remote. I would have apprecaited a few more towels and a fan or two given the heat. There was no washing line at the time we visited.

This cottage saved our Christmas!
Having postponed our stay from last Christmas we were relieved to finally get a few days in this wonderful cottage with other family members. Plenty of space for everybody to relax, lovely cosy bedrooms and an amazing location. We chose the cottage because it was close to my parents for Christmas , but we would happily stay here in future again. So much beautiful countryside. I am usually wary of reports that kitchens are ‘well equipped’ but we were really pleased with the variety of pans and cookware available. With Emma and Matt next door we knew we could ask if we had any questions. The house was tastefully decorated for Christmas and I know our two branches of the family would happily spend Christmas or New year here again. Unfortunately next Xmas is already booked… so we had better think ahead for 2023!

Great place for friends to meet.
This was our second stay at Croft Meadows Farm and we enjoyed the space to enable a group of friends to get together for the weekend. The farm is comfortable and warm with plenty of bedrooms to suit everyone. We suffered a short (5 hr) power cut on Saturday due to Storm Arwen but were supplied with logs and coal for the fire to see us through by Emma and Matt, as well as goodies for our stay. A couple of our party couldn’t get away on the Sunday due to snow and ice but we all managed it on Monday with Matt and Emma’s help. The only comment I have is that there were no jugs - measuring or otherwise in the kitchen - and no pan scrubbers to help clean up. Other than that - we had a great stay and hope to return next year!

Family Break
Warm and friendly welcome by both Matt and Emma, the property was located just right for a quiet break away in the country , we all enjoyed the property and location, it was well placed for short drives to local amenities and places to visit to keep young and old entertained . Local eateries also kept us well fed with the fare being served first rate and plenty of it. Overall a beautiful property and location t o spend a short break or a longer holiday with Emma and Matt being the perfect Hosts and always willing to pass on local knowledge for places to visit.

Quiet retreat with excellent host
We were delighted with the property as soon as we arrived and Emma was easy to talk to, offering great info on local places to visit. The property was well stocked with everything you would need whilst away and the kitchen catered for a large food shop. The bedrooms were all comfortable although the downstairs one had a slight damp smell. Bathrooms could all do with a bit of modernising but were functional. This wouldn't stop us returning to this beautiful part of the UK. Thanks Tammy & Emma
