KITCHEN – Large kitchen with recessed lighting, large sink under bright window and fully stocked with dish sets, silverware, pots and pans, mixing bowls, pitchers, cups, wine glasses, mugs, Keurig & 12-cup Mr. Coffee machines, toaster, pantry items - everything needed to prepare meals. Electric stove/oven and over the range microwave, refrigerator with ice and water dispenser, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Overlooks dining area with China cabinet and large table.

LAUNDRY – Stackable washer and dryer located in 1st floor full bathroom. Iron & Board. Clothing hamper provided.

Time together
Great to be back in Gretna; I lived there until 2023 and the friends I was with on this stay had all visited in recent years. We're high school friends in our 80s and we had a great time in this cottage and walking around the Chautauqua. The nicely appointed kitchen served us well for most meals but we also visited and can recommend the Blue Bird Inn.

A Good Stay
We had a good time staying on Penn! There was a lot of space and extremely comfy rooms. The property seemed like it was in the middle of a couple projects (lots of paint cans and tools were left on the porch, the upstairs smelt very strongly of paint for the first couple days, etc.) There were a handful of issues that the hosting company was able to address immediately (calling a plumber for a same day fix) and some others that weren’t able to be fixed during our stay (broken piece of the dryer, broken door knobs). Overall a positive experience.

Ideal family vacation home!
We had a wonderful time with our family in this vacation home. It is ideally outfitted with everything we required to make our time there comfortable and enjoyable. It is ideally located in Mount Gretna and we thoroughly enjoyed Gretna Theatre's performance of "Chess", the summer programs of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua, the lake, and nearby restaurants and taverns.

Its was just eh, okay.
Pros: VERY responsive and fast acting with resolving the issues we brought to their attention. It was a great location. Cons: trash bins outside were completely filled and flys all over them. Grill was extremely dirty and not usable. Porches were dirty and not sit able , upstairs had a urine smell, dining room had pollen all over the window cill, bad finger cut and there was no first aid kit (the owner did go get some supplies later in the day) however we had to rush and find a store in the meantime. I wouldn’t stay there again, unfortunately.

Lovely Place to Stay

Beautiful neighborhood
Sized right for a nice get together. The town and neighborhood houses are definitely worth visiting. Residents of area friendly and active. Furnishings old but mostly comfortable. The house needs a good deep cleaning and it would be easy to maintain. We left it cleaner than we received it. The cleaning fee charged should be used to actually clean the place.

Lovely house, great location
We were a group of women who graduated high school together, celebrating being on our 70th trip around the sun. So glad we found this lovely place to spend a long weekend sharing laughs and memories. House and kitchen were very well stocked with everything we needed.

Relaxing little getaway
This cottage has a very vintage feel to it. It’s not fancy and probably looks as it did years ago. But it is well-appointed, comfortable and across the street from a lovely park and the lake. The porches front and back were especially nice. We arrived to it not having been cleaned but the owner made it right very quickly. He was more than willing to help in any way he could. I would definitely stay there again.

Such a great find!
First, the property mgmt company was fantastic to deal with! They were extremely responsive and answered all my questions. Second, the area is adorable! The playground, tennis, and basketball courts are across the street, mini golf is down the road, 3 ice cream places within 5 mins, and the beach (pay to visit) is a 2 min drive. 25 mins from Hershey and 40 mins to Strasburg for the train ride. Third, the house is very spacious. We had 2 kids, 1 teenager, and 5 adults. We never felt crowded. The home was clean (except the oven) and the mattresses were new and comfortable. Overall, it was a great stay that we enjoyed immensely. I would recommend this location to anyone who is looking for a quiet, quaint stay with lots of activities within walking distance but a short drive away from attractions and shopping.

Gretna getaway
Our stay was great. Everyplace in town was easy to get to. The kitchen was well equipped. We spent all of our time enjoying the back porch. The house was in need of a deep cleaning. The towel rod in the upstairs bathroom kept falling off the wall. The smoke detector in the bedroom to the right of the bedroom kept chirping so we took it off as per the instructions from the manager. It would be helpful if the brochures in the basket and the information binder were updated. We love Mt. Gretna and hope to return in the future.

The house was beautiful. We enjoyed walking to the jigger shop and park with the kids. The lake was not in view and was more of a pond than a lake and was not included with the rental. Our biggest complaint was the cleanliness of the house and property. The shower curtains were dirty, and the downstairs glass shower had mold. The house was covered in dust, and the walls were as well. Outdoor furniture had to be wiped down before sitting on them. The wicker seat was broken, the doorknob to the bedroom with two beds kept falling off, and light fixtures were missing bulbs. They only gave us one key with three adults to use which was an inconvenience. The neighborhood was peaceful and family friendly.

Nice for a weekend getaway, could use some cleaning/maintenance
The location of this house is very nice, nestled in the woods, near a lake. Our kids enjoyed the playground close by. We used it as a base to go to Hershey Park, which is about 25 minutes away - it was nice to come back to a quiet location after a busy day at the park! The beds and pillows were comfortable, we just had to bring our own sheets. When we arrived at the house, it was much dustier than expected - not sure if it hadn't been occupied for a while, or if the cleaning service only focuses on commonly used surfaces without paying attention to walls, window sills, lamps, corner cobwebs, etc. A couple people in our group have dust allergies, and they were negatively affected from the start. It was also quite dirty under the beds (dusty, found old socks, garbage, etc.), so these areas are clearly ignored by the cleaning service also. Parts of the house were in general disrepair - some of the blinds/shades were broken, a leg on one of the nightstands was broken, a slat from the porch swing was broken. One safety issue - anyone 6 feet tall or more is at risk of hitting their head on the ceiling at the bottom of the stairs going up to the second floor (happened a few times to members of our group). With some extra cleaning and maintenance work, this would be an awesome house!

Charming Getaway
This home was perfect for our family getaway. Less than 30 minutes from Hershey Park and walking distance to the Jigger Icecream shop. We enjoyed walking in the gorgeous neighborhood of historic homes. This home has so much charm and the large front porch was great for relaxing and enjoying time with family. We would absolutely rent this home again! Check in process was very easy, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Good location. Nice area.
Everything worked except the TV cable. But, we could still stream and use services. The fireplaces seemed like they could use some maintenance and removal of old ashes.There were puzzles and games that were entertaining.The front open porch and rear enclosed one were nice. It was just a little cold to get much use out of them.

Great American Outdoor Show home away from home
Freedom Hunters' volunteers enjoyed staying in a relaxing home away from the Harrisburg show. It was quite a jaunt to the Farm Center, but it was nice to get away and the view of the lake is beautiful.
