The Weathervane Motel had good ratings, was in a good area, and looked really cute online, which is why we chose it over several other hotels in the area. We were in town for 1 night to run the local half marathon.
The front office has a very strong smell of curry, which if I were at a restaurant, I might find pleasant, however in a hotel lobby was quite off-putting. The person working at the front desk was very friendly and nice.
We got there fairly late and really just planned on getting a good nights sleep and had asked for a late check out in order for us to come back and take showers after the race. Again, person at front desk was accommodating.
Upon entering the room we were hit with a musty, mildew type of odor. We adjusted the A/C to try to help that, but it persisted. When we used the bathroom we were hit with a rather putrid smell of urine; kind of like a men’s urinal might smell. This sealed our decision to go ahead and check out early versus coming back to shower after the race. Now, mind you my husband and I are not that picky about where we stay, and don’t require 4-star accommodations by any means, but I should mention this 1 night stay in what should be a $60/night motel cost us $179. We had a fabulous time at the Bird in Hand Half Marathon and the Lancaster area and will definitely be back next year, but will choose a different hotel. :(
