BIG ROCK LODGE offers one of the most unique vacation rental experiences in all of Lake Lure. Located in Rumbling Bald Resort, this tri-level 4300sf log home has 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The location is extremely private with no other homes in sight from this 1.5 acre wooded location nestled in mature trees. This adjoins a State Park, so you are sure to see the best of nature. Driving is easy because the roads are paved, and all the resort amenities are just minutes away. Unloading luggage and groceries is a breeze, as there are only a few steps to get inside the home. Parking is easy on the large, level, paved driveway parking area.

HOT TUB NOTE: This listing indicates a hot tub. NOTE the Hot Tub is a COMMUNITY AMENITY and is not located at the home.

If you appreciate quality construction and the artistry of nature, you will be amazed by the massive interior logs. This home truly delivers the log home lodge experience. As soon as you enter, it takes a minute to “take it all in”. I guarantee you will drop your luggage and just stop to look around at the fine craftmanship. The enormous logs and vaulted ceilings are accented by lots of natural light. The main level has an open inviting floor plan that pulls you right in. Here you will find the living room with wood floors, stacked stone gas fireplace, oversized curved sofa with recliners, coffee table, huge wall mounted flat screen TV, guest bathroom, and glass doors to the deck. Steps away is a separate formal dining area with a table for six. There are so many options for entertaining and dining. Sit inside at the formal table, relax outside on the full-length deck that has a table and umbrella with seating for four and additional chairs nearby, or enjoy the breakfast bar while the Chef in your group cooks.

The well-equipped kitchen is ideal for preparing vacation meals. Enjoy wrap around granite countertops, deep double sinks, cabinets galore, oven, electric cooktop stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with lower freezer drawer, both DRIP AND KEURIG COFFEE MAKERS, toaster oven, toaster, and more. There is a raised breakfast bar for casual dining or just good conversation. Serving is easy with inside and outside tables just steps away. To help with the vacation experience is a GAS BARBEQUE, and we provide the propane.

You'll never want to leave the main floor luxurious Master Suite with private bathroom. It features a king size bed, nightstand with reading lamp, wall mounted flat screen TV, walk in closet, and glass doors to a private section of the deck complete with chairs and small table. The Master Bath is simply amazing with dual granite vanities, double mirrors, and double glass doors that open to a massive tile shower with full body shower jets.

When you go on vacation with a group or extended family, one of the most important things is the flexibility of sleeping arrangements. So, let's take a look at the bedrooms. Upstairs are three bedrooms. There two bedrooms each with queen beds, and one of them has a TV. And the kids will absolutely love the third bedroom which we call the Bunk Room. The photos will help you decipher the layout. It has a bunkbed with twin on top and full on the bottom, a second full size bed, and a twin size trundle bed. Let the fun begin!

But wait … the best is yet to come! The lower level is pure entertainment paradise. There is a pool table, a foosball table, an air hockey table, and a card table with four chairs. The awesome part is there is plenty of room for everyone to play at the same time! Between games you can relax on the patio with padded furniture and table. All that action will work up an appetite and thirst. No worries, there is a wet bar with sink, mini fridge, and microwave. When game time is over, take the group to enjoy a movie in the MEDIA ROOM! Here you will find a huge flat screen TV, curved sectional couch, and high-top table with four chairs. Downstairs there is another bedroom with a queen bed and recliner. There's also a laundry room with a washer and dryer.

This home is located in Rumbling Bald Resort at Lake Lure, and renters get to enjoy all the amenities of the Resort. Amenities include restaurants, sports bar, beach, tennis courts, pickle ball, indoor and outdoor pools, lazy river, volleyball, golf, mini golf, spa, salon, fitness center, and so much more!

Came for a golf trip with a group of friends. The house was in great shape, was clean, and was very close to the golf courses we were playing. Excellent communication by the host for check-in/check-out. 10/10 would stay again

Clean but not maintained
The house does not get maintained well. It appears owner has lack of interest. False interior home images on the Big Rock Lodge website. The bunk room a/c did not work from the first day of arrival. A a/c repairman came out and parts were needed to repair the a/c. The parts needed to be ordered and was told would not be available until sometime after our week vacation. The six children were uncomfortably warm during the night and throughout our stay and all woke up very early each morning sweating. The ceiling fan between the living room and open space to the rear of living room did not work. The large leather sectional and leather chair did not exist. The folding tables provided to accommodate the dining room table because of lack of dining chairs were filthy and had to be cleaned before use. The large refrigerator shown on the Big Rick Lodge website was not in the home as shown. A smaller and inefficient refrigerator was provided. The bottom shelf inside the refrigerator could not be fully stored because the shelf on the door to the refrigerator interfered with the bottom shelf when closed. The toaster oven was not included as shown on website. We had to use the larger oven at times. The master bedroom wall to wall carpeting that was exposed around the large area rug in front of the bed was extremely stained and unclean. There was no area rug shown on the website and the wall to wall carpeting is shown very clean. The game tables (pool table and air hockey)

Great for a weekend getaway
Beautiful and spacious home with plenty of room for our group (4 couples). We ate dinner at the restaurant at Rumbling Bald. It was just OK and a little pricey but location worked and we didn’t want to cook. Chimney rock and Burnt Shirt Vineyard were a highlight. Overall I would stay here again. There were no issues just some things were overlooked when the cleaning people came in prior to our stay. We did use the fire pit (wood for one fire included) and it was lovely.

Big Rock Lodge was very spacious for our Family. Everyone had room to sleep, eat and have fun downstairs in the game room. There are definitely bears in the area. One was on the porch checking out the grill. Second floor air-conditioning may needs to be checked, quite warm upstairs.

Property served four families very well. Spacious home that provides room for everyone to spread out but spaces to gather as well. Only minor issue was refrigerator not staying cold but management resolved the issue quickly with delivering a second for the duration of the stay. We enjoyed the home and all resort amenities very much. Great stay.

Beautiful cabin!
Our family of 12 stayed in the property and overall had a great trip but there were a few issues. The rental company called prior to our arrival which was nice, and we were able to get into the home as soon as we arrived. The biggest issue we had was the refrigerator- it would not drop below 54 degrees and would not produce ice. Very worrisome. We had to go out and get ice and out all of our food in coolers so it wouldn't spoil. Luckily it rebounded after the first night, and the rental company sent out maintenance the next morning but it seemed ok. We slowly added food back in. Also, The door handle of the oven was also broken making it difficult to take things in and out. Additionally the dishwasher only seemed to work on a certain setting so by trial and error we learned it had to be on "sanitize" to start. I was surprised that the kitchen lacked some basic tools like serving bowls and pot holders-because in this type of location there are not many places close to eat so much of the cooking is done at the home. The third day the fridge started to warm up again-luckily this was our last night so most of groceries were gone- I reported this to the rental company but didn't hear back. Overall the house was spacious and the kids enjoyed the games and books. They loved the kids room and basement area. The home is nice it probably just needs a little love from wear and tear. Also the fridge seems like an issue that needs be addressed.

Mountain resort
This was a beautiful log home with plenty of space for our extended family to spend time together and have their own private space when necessary! We really loved having access to the resort amenities including the pools and beach/lake activities. The Wifi was a bit spotty in certain sections of the house but overall this was only a minor inconvenience. Overall it was great accommodations for our big family and located close enough to Asheville to do a few day trips off site and then enjoy just relaxing on resort grounds the rest of the time!

Disappointing
I was really hoping to avoid giving a negative review by notifying the office SEVERAL times throughout our stay via texts, phone calls and email of all of the issues. We spent entirely too much of our vacation trying to rectify various issues with the house. We asked for reimbursement of some sort and have only been pushed off. So here we are. Upon arriving at Big Rock, we immediately discovered that 2 toilets were not functioning and the house was dirty. I sent over a dozen pictures of dirty shower doors (one of which did not close properly), dead bugs on the floor, items on the floors, dirty refrigerator and toaster oven, dirty/dusty surfaces throughout the house. The garbage disposal was out of order, giving off a foul odor. Their initial response was to send a maintenance man out at 10pm our first night there, and a cleaning crew the following day. This was appreciated but also, negatively affected our plans significantly. Late the next day we discovered that the refrigerator temperature had risen to 49 degrees. They offered to send someone over with a cooler and ice. This was at about 10pm. This was not going to work. Thankfully, by the next morning the fridge temp had dropped to an appropriate level. All along, we were texting and calling the office to request some sort of compensation for our inconvenience as this house was not anywhere near what the website presented. It has great potential, but unfortunately the owners/property managers do not give it the attention it deserves. There were missing door knobs, broken and dirty trash cans, dirty windows, stained carpets, dust and cobwebs everywhere you turned. We are still hoping that Mr. lake Lure will do the right thing and compensate us for the major disruptions to our stay.

Beautiful home tucked up in the mountain
Our family enjoyed a nice stay at Big Rock and Rumbling Bald Resort! It is a beautiful big cabin feel and has so many things to offer for families to have a nice getaway (kitchen appliances, lovely deck, toys and games and DVDs, etc.). This was our 5th time to go to Rumbling Bald Resort for our family vacation and it is a great spot for kids and parents a like—the amenities and activities are great!
