Don't be put off by the cheap room rental. This is a brilliant situated hotel and excellent value. A pleasant 5 min walk along the coastal road, and you're in the heart of the beautiful little town of Fiscardo - the only village left with original buildings that survived the 1953 earthquake that devastated Kefalonia and the neon outing islands of Ithaka and Zakynthos.
Walk in the opposite direction fo 5 mins and you come to Foki Beach - exactly as I had always imagined a Greek island beach would look, white pebbles, clear blue water, all surrounded by pine a broad leaf trees.
No pool at the hotel probably keeps the price down, but you don't need one. Cross the road, down a few stone steps, and you can swim in the calm waters of the cove - prefect!
Hotel room was a bit shabby in places, but over all, very comfortable and well equipped - views from the balcony ( we were on the second floor) across the bay to the old lighthouse was stunning ( not sure the first floor would afford the same view though.)
Loads of cats (24 plus) running around which we very amusing to watch, but again, not so sure I would have been so happy if we'd been on the ground floor as they could be quite noisy scrapping with each other!
