This review has to be taken in the context of it being in Nepal, it was our first trip there and expectations have to be a bit lower! If this hotel was in Canada I would probably be giving it a lower score.
The good: Location is smack in the middle of Thamel, a major tourist area, on a street that doesn't allow vehicle traffic and right opposite a decent grocery store for all those things you forgot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms have a/c and decent windows so it was pretty quiet, although we were at the back of the hotel which I'm sure helped, I also think we had one of the biggest rooms, so we had plenty of space, others looked a bit more cramped . Included breakfast was good, WiFi was decent, and the little courtyard in the back was an oasis of calm after the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Beds were comfortable and decent amount of hot water.
The rest: Overall the place seems a little tired, ongoing maintenance appears to be a lower priority in Nepal. Cleanliness was OK, but I don't think they actually use any cleaning supplies, just a sweep up and a wipe down with a damp cloth, which meant the bathroom often had a strange smell.
Overall I would stay there again, but you have to keep your expectations realistic!
