The view was breathtaking, and the surroundings were quiet and peaceful. The unit was substantially clean, and well aired out. The unit was interestingly renovated as there were 3 large sliding glass doors on the 2 exterior walls, but it worked out very well in providing phenomenal views and airflow. They were even lockable: the way to do it was to lock 2 of them from the inside, and then the 3rd one using a key from the outside.
Mitsuko and Curt were very inviting hosts; they personally greeted us when we arrived! On the second day, Mitsuko even cut a plate of fruits for us! Without us asking about a later check-out, she even told us that since they didn't have a new guest coming on the day we were departing, we were free to hang out for as long as we wanted until our flight!
There were tons of very cute birds and geckos, and their cat was living the dream life just staring at the ocean view. For sensitive sleepers, the birds can get pretty loud in the morning, when the sun comes up.
At night, the area is very dark, which is amazing for stargazing! I was able to see the Milky Way with my naked eyes, and even Venus' reflection shimmering on the ocean as it was starting to set. During the daytime, you can see Mauna Kea along with is observatories, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai all in one sweep. On the opposite side, you can see Maui. In fact, I think I even saw Haleakala Observatory with my naked eyes.
