Great cabin on beautiful grounds
Overall we had a great stay here. The private lake was a perfect spot for our kids to play — fish, swim, and paddle. They had fun playing ping pong and watching movies and roasting marshmallows as well.

Great pond, paths and blackberries
We had a lovely week staying here with the kids. The house is spacious and well stocked in the kitchen. The outdoor Blackstone grill was a fun addition. The pond was gorgeous with clear water, lots of sunfish/pumpinseeds for the kids to catch, and little frogs. The house comes with floaties, paddleboards, and other pond toys. There are a TON of blackberries (we visited in early August) and we made a huge pie. The trails are beautiful, but very buggy - easily fixed with liberal application of bug spray. There are lots of interesting animals outside the pond - we even saw a porcupine climbing the trees! The only negative is that the water in the house has a faint smell of pond water/muck. It tastes fine, but the smell was definitely there. Anyone sensitive to this should bring some bottled water. Other than this, it was amazing and we would recommend it to anyone!

Get away from it all
This was our first time in the north woods looking to unplug and relax and this property delivered. Although it's 1.5 miles off the highway it really feels completely secluded. The property is completely lined with woods and about the only spot you can see the road is from the kitchen window, the rest of the property faces the woods/lake and feels very secluded. We had everything we could ever need, the lake was prefect for swimming and we loved jumping off the dock and taking the kyacks around, and viewing the stars at night. While outside you could hear the occasional car driving by but the property sits down in a bit of a bowl so you don't get a lot of sound pollution, inside the house we could not hear any cars. My only complaint is that the kitchen was pretty dark however we did the majority of our cooking on the Blackstone outside (I'm going to have to get one now) so it didn't matter too much. And this was one of the best stocked rentals we have ever seen. Crock pot, roaster, george forman, air fryer, plenty of bowls/platers, baking sheets, etc to service a large crowd, there was even muffin tins and a rolling pin. There were plenty of board games and DVD's when you are done with the outside (make sure to bring bug spray) The walking paths were well maintained and good for a quick walk, the kids were disappointed that we did not get to see a bear in real life. Thanks for the great memories.

Best week ever!
We were looking forward to a new Northwoods location and this did not disappoint. The lake house was incredible. Everything you could possibly need in a fun yet relaxing getaway was in this house. Plenty of space to spread the family out, but still be close. The grounds are amazing. So much land! The lake was the best part. We spent many days on the lake just floating, paddle boarding or kayaking. The weather was perfect. Just a great week overall. We were sad to leave, but will definitely be back!

A great place to stay!
My wife and seven-year-old son stayed at the cabin for an extended weekend. It was very easy to find and its location is perfectly close to everything you want to go to yet still secluded enough to feel like a real getaway. The cabin is clean and spacious with just the right blend of Rusticity and modern convenience. The fireplace works perfectly and when you stand by it, it feels as though Teddy Roosevelt will be walking through the door any minute. The property is also beautiful with walking trails and abundant wildlife. I would definitely recommend this cabin to others. I would be happy to stay here again in the future.

Family get-away
We had a great time at the cabin. We needed something close to Merrill for a wedding that was comfortable and fun for our family. The kids loved exploring by the lake, we came just in time to see tons of tadpoles and baby frogs that just hatched. Lots of lake time and even on the rainy day we played games inside. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked dinner on the blackstone for almost all our meals.

Private and Quiet
We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing several days here. The home is beautiful and well maintained. Spacious kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Excellent DVD collection. The lake was perfect for floating around and relaxing. The kids really enjoyed swimming in the lake and rowing around on the paddle boards. We really appreciated the access to the kayaks, paddle boards, and life jackets. There were lots of turtles and froggies around the lake, which made for great nature viewing, but also deterred us from fishing. A couple of turtles were hooked early on, and we didn't want to cause any harm to them. The abundant nature trails were very nice - well maintained, full of milkweed and likely to be very beautiful come late summer. Very close to Tomahawk and Merrill which offered easy access to: grocery stores, restaurants, thrift shopping, ice cream and snacks, disc golf courses, and nature spaces. Incredible place in the North Woods!

Beautiful Northwood style house with private lake to enjoy for the whole family from kayaking to swimming. We enjoyed sitting on the deck for lunch and listen to the birds and the calmness of nature that surrounds you. The house itself is equipped with everything you need. Three couples trip
This place is awesome. The owners thought of everything. It is VERY clean and well-stocked. We stayed with two other couples and there is so much room for everyone~ we could all do our own thing. The kitchen and dining area is huge, well appointed, and had everything we needed to cook every meal. We never went out to eat. The little lake is beautiful, fun to paddle around, and the perfect spot to sit by the fire and look at the stars at night. It is so quiet and relaxing. The grounds and hiking trails are also very well taken care of. Wish we were there in winter to snowshoe! Also very close to the Merrill section of the Ice Age Trail for hikers doing the Mammoth Hike Challenge. We are planning on staying here again!

As good as advertised
Stayed here with 2 adult kids and their spouses. Everyone had a great time, especially our golden retriever. Days spent on quiet lake with supplied paddle boards and kayaks and evenings playing pingpong. Plenty of lakes close by for fishing and tubing. Had lunch at Tilted Loon on Lake Mohawksin, worth the ride. House had everything you could think of, definitely will try to make it back. Thanks Kasie for opening your vacation home to us

Another Excellent Stay
The Red Door Lodge is a special place for our family. We have now been there 4 times and it never disappoints. The privacy of the pond is outstanding and it is big enough to paddle around in the kayaks and paddle boards and small enough to dive in for a swim and hang out in the water. Kasie is so great to work with and always quick with a response. There is no doubt they go out of their way to make sure everything is there that you will need. I love the Blackstone griddle and we used it everyday for breakfast. The proximity to Tomahawk is nice for a trip to the grocery store, Kwik Trip, or some pizza at Bambino's. If you are looking to relax and have the amenity's of home, this is it. As good as you will find.
