A glorious old Powell River hotel, beautifully preserved and sympathetically loved. Kelly clearly has a love for the place. TheTownsite brewery and tasting room nearby added to the pleasure, as did the very finely spiced foods at the Royal Zakya restaurant up the hill.
The owner/manager was there to greet us and show us to our room. He showed us how the tv worked and when the restaurant was open and the room with extra snacks and irons etc. very super helpful. Our night included breakfast and it was a choice of a number of full choices with a beverage included. The waitress was friendly and helpful and received her due tip! 10/10 everything included.
Couldn't find any Shampoo?
The soap on the wall of the shower was not good for Shampoo.
Every else good and the breakfast was excellent.
Best breakfast I've ever had where breakfast was included in the room price.
This was the most unique hotel I have stayed in. Historic building beautifully renovated into hotel. Antiques were a surprise and added to hotel charm. Modern additions ie. charging ports and Nespresso appreciated. Bed and pillows extremely comfortable. Location in "historic" district meant it was a distance from main shopping/restaurant areas of Powell River and close to historic employer--the paper mill. Area did have some restaurants and shopping though. Walking around, appreciated all the historic markers detailing area history. Having a breakfast menu was appreciated but computer issue and my order not sent thru. I patiently waited and then had to ask about my breakfast. Staff person was new and apologetic. Delay may have been part of the part of then rushing the order and not the best eggs beny I have had. Overall I enjoyed the hotel and would stay again.

Nice property but hotel did not provide breakfast as promised. Upon arrival, I was informed that the restaurant was closed. A hotel pamphlet inside our room indicated that breakfast items would be available in the kitchen. On the first morning no breakfast items were available. Despite leaving a message about the lack of breakfast, there were no breakfast items available on the second morning of our stay as well. I followed up the stay with an email requesting a modest refund that was completely ignored. This is a nice property, but the level of service is terrible and you cannot rely on the hotel providing breakfast.
This property is a gem! Great staff and service. Its a time capsule to the past! The history of this building and the old townsite is fun to experience.

The advertised breakfast included wasn't offered on either day of our stay. Expedia doesnt mention the restaurant is closed on Mondays.. but it is posted on the hotels website. Either way don't expect the advertised breakfast to be included on your stay. We also paid extra for the superior room with ocean views.. don't bother, your view is the back side of a decommissioned mill and sketchy hotel across the street l,which seems to house the local miscreants. We also posted the door hanger requesting housekeeping at 9:30am, guess they couldn't be bothered with that either.
I did receive a small portion for a refund.. but honestly I would'nt go back.. dilapidated part of town in a very rough neighborhood. The historic building looks like it's been neglected since it's past renovations.. needs some serious exterior maintenance.
This wonderful boutique hotel was the perfect way to spend time in Powell River. The hotel keeper met us after hours with a friendly smile and took time to show us all about our room. The room itself was clean and perfect for what we needed. The breakfast was delicious. We will be returning back and recommending to anyone exploring the area
Great Boutique Hotel. Rooms are interesting and not cookie cutter. Loved that the TV was separate from the bed area. Would stay again and would recommend to others.

The history of the building and area is interesting but the amenities were quite limited and noise level (screaming in the middle of the night…no not ghosts!) made for a very difficult night’s sleep. The free delicious breakfast was a bonus.
Very much enjoyed the ambience and friendliness of staff. Having access to the veranda was a bonus. The breakfasts were delicious and very filling. Would definitely come again!
