$75. pet fee
On the eleventh day of a twelve day road trip I sent a message to the property to confirm a pet friendly room. The response informed me of a $75 dollar pet fee. I thought this was outrageous and tried to cancel but it was past the cancelation point so had no choice but pay the hotel full price and get another room in a different hotel or stay at Hampton Inn.The management would not cancel. Saying it was Hilton policy. I've canceled Hampton Inn reservations through hotels.com the day of reservation day in the past so knew it was just her decision. We stayed at the inn and immediately noticed a sleight cigarette smell from the room. We are both non smokers. We sprayed a disinfectant deodorizer. The room was cleanish and comfortable except for the smell but was very dated and needed an refurbishment. We did not eat the breakfast as we just wanted to get on the road and go home. Of the eight accommodations we booked $75 was highest pet fee which is Hilton/ Hampton Inn policy. Holiday Inn charged us $50 but the others were $25, which one hotel waived " Best Western " and one hotel didn't have a pet fee which was the nicest, cleanest and less expensive than Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn and Comfort inn after adding the pet fee. My point is that Hotels.com should reveal pet fees of properties when you specifically filter to pet friendly hotels. I'm sure it would be very simple to update their web site. The pet fee should be included in the booking price when comparing properties.
