About this property

Waterfront guesthouse at cliff's edge of Lake Superior's South Shore, Sky Fire.

Relax with expansive views of Lake Superior as you bask in the glow of the wood fireplace's radiance. Waves echoing off the brownstone cliff upon which this special home is perched, absorb the splendor of bald and golden eagles soaring only feet away.

Minutes from your nest is Meyer's Beach, the common entry point to begin your kayak or hiking excursion to the sea and ice caves of this, the greatest of all lakes. Bike, hiking, motorsports, class one trout fishing, waterfalls and XC ski trails abound.

The entire, two bedroom home that is Sky Fire is your private oasis away from home.

Seasonally, bathe in warm sunlight while relaxing in the south facing, enclosed front porch. Enjoy sitting around the fire pit in the front yard as you soak up the beauty of Lake Superior a stone's throw away. Your wonderful day having turned to night, the dark, amazingly starry sky over Lake Superior may grace the night owl with a show of the magically colorful northern lights. Well behaved, non-destructive, potty-trained dogs are welcome.

Snowmobile and ATV trails/routes are literally at my driveway's entry point. The area also has world class, well maintained fat tire bike trails that are groomed for winter riding. Wanna mush your own sled team of dogs? That's available nearby as well.

Indoors fun and gaming more your speed? Just short of Bayfield, nearby "Legendary Water's and Casino," awaits your arrival.

A peaceful, 1.3 mile walk from the home will have you stepping foot onto a glorious sandy swimming beach. With Lake Superior literally lapping at your feet, this beach stretches over a mile to the quaint town of Cornucopia where you'll find the marina, coffee shop, restaurant/bar, art and the, "It has everything" general store that is *Ehler's.

A 23 mile drive into Bayfield, WI will take you to a charming community serving tourist and locals alike, all of whom have an affinity for the allure of the nearby Apostle Islands that await your visit. Just a short ferry ride away, quaint Madeline Island is yours to explore and enjoy.

*Ehler's closes for the winter season
A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. The bathroom has a shower and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a phone, as well as a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.

Getaway
Wonderful home. Beautiful view. Super quiet. Loved that we could bring our dog. Would definitely recommend. It is a guest house connected to another home but no one but us was there. If privacy is important just check the other side of home will be vacant during your stay.

Great space, very accomdating hosts, space itself very clean. Only critique would be that the website description didn't mention a common porch entry to the property.

Trash in yard
Property completely open, including windows. Mice in kitchen. Trash scattered about yard. Garage wide open. Kind of weird - the owners had just been there so makes you wonder.

Trash in yard
This from my sister, Gail Trowbridge. I was ill and unable to come. Property was completely open including windows. Garage was open. Lots of trash scattered about yard (animals?). Mice in kitchen. Kind of creepy goat artwork, but that’s personal taste.

Great location for hikes and relaxing
Seamless check-in, great e-communication with host including some great tips for area. Place is very clean and as shown in photos. Before booking, I was a little hesitant because it is a guest house (attached to main house). But other residents were not seen or heard, very respectful of privacy. Would stay again .

charming home with wonderful view
Had some serious hiccups with gaining information for check-in, but after we did, all was well. Owner was helpful throughout the stay and even allowed another couple to visit for a few nights of our two week stay. This is such a nice home in a lovely area. We enjoyed both an indoor fire and an outdoor fire. Twice we visited Siskiwit River Falls; we enjoyed the hike so much. If staying in the area, I recommend this beautiful home!

The scenery from the back yard overlooking Lake Superior could not be beat! Everything was easy to understand with nice little notes posted around the living quarters explaining everything from the ice maker to the laundry machines.

Great getaway
This is a lovely place to get away and unplug. The house is well-kept and nicely appointed. We didn't find ourselves lacking anything we expected. The view of the lake is fantastic, with glorious sunsets. The only downside is that there were a lot of mosquitos (early July). Be prepared with several types of insect repellant.

Very comfortable house! Lots of tools and supplies in the kitchen. Nice set up! Lots of windows for great view of Lake Superior! Screens on every window and fans for super cross ventilation. Not far from touristy stuff but nice space away in the Northwoods.

Winter Wonderland
This was a much needed getaway that turned into a late winter wonderland. We received ~12 inches of snow during our stay, which kept up mainly inside. The guesthouse provided us with spectacular views and was warm and comfortable. The games and puzzles provided helped to keep us entertained. The few times we were out walking the dogs the entire area was peaceful and serene. Communication about the impending weather and snow removal was excellent. We would love to go back there again.

Comfortable and quiet
My husband, son and I spent a long weekend relaxing, hiking, and enjoying the view. The cabin was clean and well stocked. Erin communicated well and even made sure we had an instapot for our chili. Despite the rain and lack of winter snow, we still found plenty of beaches and trails to explore nearby.

AWESOME!
You walk into the cabin and there "she", Lake Superior, is in all her glory. We had spectacular views of Lake Superior and could see all the way to Minnesota. The only bad thing about the cabin was the furniture was dirty and full of dog hair. The furniture was also very uncomfortable. Other than that, we had a good time.

Great week at Sky Fyre
Love the cabin! Lovely, spacious great room with pretty views of Bark Bay beyond the trees. Neighbor/owners very nice and not intrusive. Quite clean. When the smoke detector battery died and it was too high to reach without a ladder, Erin the property mgr got a handyman in to fix it right away -- yay! We enjoyed the fire pit and sunsets in the back yard. The area is magical. We'd been staying on the MN North Shore but our favorite rental went away and this was our experiment to stay on the lake. North Shore can be sort of a zoo; Cornucopia is the opposite. Quiet, quaint, arty, and 30 minutes from Bayfield, Madeline Island and all they have to offer. Dinner at the Copper Trout in Bayfield was fabulous. Nearby we saw a wolf along the road; wolf tracks on a beach on another day; an owl flew low in front of the windshield one night, and an eagle was nesting next door, flying across our lake view daily. Thanks for having us; we'd love to come back!
