About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

This house is a 2 bedroom(s), 2 bathrooms, located in Herbster, WI.

Plan your escape to the South Shore at Porcupine Bluff! This modern, 2 bdrm & 2 bath new construction home is nestled into the woods on Bark Point, offering guests the perfect combination of modern design and natural beauty. The attention to detail inside & out is incredible - you’ll find everything you could ever need to make for a truly exceptional stay on Lake Superior’s South Shore. Beautiful lake views to enjoy while relaxing around the fire pit, a private wooded lot - even an EV charger!

Host Info
Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties on Lake Superior's South Shore. She lives nearby and is available 24/7 to assist her guests. Our passion is ensuring guests experience the magic of what we feel is one of the most amazing places in the world.

The South Shore
The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.

The Area
The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 35 minutes away, as is Washburn (where the largest grocery store is in the area). Ashland is about 45 minutes away (which has a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour and a bit away.

Property Details
The home’s exterior is sleek and modern, but still blends beautifully into the scenic beauty of the Northwoods. The interior is all about clean, modern lines that don’t distract from the views to the outside, accented by carefully curated (and at times, quirky) art & other decor flourishes. But this property isn’t just about it’s looks: you’ll find every creature comfort and amenity necessary to get the most out of your stay!

The open plan living/dining/kitchen area looks out onto the patio and the woods. The living area is anchored by an electric fireplace. The kitchen is incredibly well-outfitted with every appliance (even a countertop ice maker!) and utensil you could want to enjoy meals “at home.”

The primary bedroom features a king bed, serene views, and an en suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

The second bedroom is for the kids (including the inner child of every adult). The built-in bunk beds are a delight! The lower bunk has a queen mattress and we just can’t get over the adorable light-blocking curtains you can pull across the bunk for a cozy night’s sleep. Please note: due to state health department rules & our need to protect our cleaning team members' safety, bedding will be left out for the top bunk, but guests will need to make that bed up themselves.

The second bathroom has a bathtub/shower combo. And right next door is the laundry room, with full-size washer & dryer!

You can step out to the patio from the great room, where there’s a dining table, gas grill, and lounge seating.

There’s a magical trail that leads from the home to the edge of the property, where you can sit around the fire pit and enjoy incredible views of the lake. Or perhaps you’d prefer to enjoy a nap in the nearby hammock! Adding to the magic are mystical gnomes that have been hidden all along the path. A special prize awaits anyone who can find them all!

Porcupine Bluff has everything one could hope for creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Transit Info
Due to the lack of public transportation and the distance between towns/amenities, a car is pretty much essential. But, on the plus side, traffic is not a concept we have up here!
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
Make use of convenient amenities, which include concierge services and gas grills.
Guests will find features like internet access, onsite parking, and a car charging station.

Relaxing weekend on the South Shore
We enjoyed our time in Herbster. The cabin was stocked with all the creature comforts, and its location - nestled in the woods along the lakeshore - was outstanding. We enjoyed our morning beverages as we watched the sunrise each morning. Cooking breakfast and lunch in the kitchen was easy with all the provided items. For dinner, we ate at The Cranberry Over Superior - and recommend it! We explored Cornucopia and Port Wing, too. The South Shore had plenty to keep us occupied when we ventured outside the cabin.

Great stay
Great stay. Was able to get local produce and meat through the owners. Saw coyote, deer in the area and the sunrises were beautiful. Our dog enjoyed it as well. Definitely would come back!

Fun get away with my husband and our dog!
Easy to cook in the kitchen! So happy it was dog friendly! Lots of beautiful hikes in the area! Wish we would have had more mosquito repellents like candles, tiki torches, bug zappers and bug swatters. We were there in July in case you visit in the summer time. The backyard is heavily wooded which mosquitos love. There was not a TV which was fine for us, just something we noticed after our arrival. Most restaurants were quite a drive so plan ahead or cook at home, which we did quite a bit. The host helped us get some local beef which we greatly appreciated! Overall it was a great experience!
