I got trapped in the shower due to a malfunctioning shower door. A handyman had to pry the shower door open. He had to remove a strip of plastic that had, amazingly, sealed shut the shower door. When the handyman was removing the plastic seal, he made some comments to the effect that this was not the first time that he had needed to pry open a shower door at this hotel! I suspect that the plastic strip was NOT part of the design of the shower, but was added by the hotel to prevent any water from leaking out of the shower onto the bathroom floor.
Even worse than being trapped in a small shower stall (which is a nightmare), was what happened next! The person at the front desk came up to our room and personally witnessed the handyman struggling to pry the door open.
After that, she offered exactly nothing, no discount, no nothing, When I requested a discount, she immediately offered 50%. But she said that she could not provide it directly, since I had booked through Expedia, as opposed to booking directly with Holiday Inn. But she said that she would put a note in the computer requesting a 50% discount, and that Expedia would see the note. She further advised me to then call Expedia and request the discount from Expedia.
But when I called Expedia, a couple of days later, Expedia said that Hoilday Inn had told them that there was no note in the computer, and that they opposed providing any discount at all, since they had a strict policy against ever issuing any refund!
