On arrival, we parked in the car park and I went to check us in, I had booked a twin room only as we had the dog however on arrival I asked if we could change to a double and they said that was fine, on leaving reception I added the dog cost and parking to the room as expected, as i was walking off I was told breakfast was included... We went out for the evening so didn't spend much time in the room, when returning to the room around 11 PM we found that it absolutely stunk of vommit/damp, went straight to reception and they kindly moved us to a different room with what can only be described as a dead body stain on the carpet, it was late so we went to sleep. We attended breakfast, told the attendant our room number, she explained about the buffet and where to sit and we sat and ate breakfast, I then left for work and my fiancee checked out a while later. Upon checkout she was charged £24 for our breakfasts. (I wouldn't have had breakfast if I was not told it was included) The hotel staff then proceded to tell my fiancee she was lying and that all members of staff had told us that breakfast was an extra cost, non of them had mentioned this.

The location is perfect, the free disabled parking was very welcome, and the breakfast was good. Unfortunately, there are some areas of the hotel that need help. The carpets in both rooms we booked were badly stained; one of the secondary glazing windows was missing, and in the other room it was cracked; the window sills and radiators were dirty and very dusty; and the lift was extraordinarily slow. We had high hopes, but the hotel was definitely not worth the price we paid.

We booked this hotel last minute as a stop off on the way home on a Sunday as love Harrogate. We arrive and parked at the car park around the back without a problem, went to the reception at the bar and checked in quickly staff were polite and gave us the information we needed. They also have an automated checkin and checkout system. We had a cozy room which was perfect for the one night, bed was comfortable and room was nicely decorated, you also have a kettle, hairdryer iron and ironing board. As we had a restaurant booked in Hartogate we did not have dinner in the hotel but breakfast was included and was lovely and fresh with plenty of hot and cold options. Would definitely return.

Good but could be better

The Hotel has on street parking immediately outside, I paid £5.50 overnight. The outside looks welcoming and smart, I have walked past here a couple of times from an other hotel recently so decided to it out. The 2 Public Bar areas are pleasant and traditionally decorated. Food is served in the bar where there is a good choice my meal was enjoyable. My room was a pleasant space, (a cosy room) and slightly smaller than the average hotel room, although there was still room for a separate chair which was welcome. Negatives, The corridor to the rooms was dimly lit with an automatic light that came on after you had passed, my room suffered from noise from an extract fan presumably from the kitchen which seemed to be on from 6am to 11pm. Breakfast was mediocre at best, most hot items were luke warm, although I was one of the first down, due being woken early by the fan.

Lovely hotel but problem with booking

This is a lovely hotel and the rooms are gorgeous. However, we had booked an accessible suite and checked that this would be available by telephone, a good time in advance. When we arrived, we were informed that, although this was flagged up on the system, that it should not be reallocated, Central reservations allocated the room to someone else. The duty manager was very apologetic and we had a look at the suite we had been allocated instead, which was wonderful, but it had a shower over a bath, which was impossible for me to use. We were then allocated a superior room which was also lovely but the shower had a very high step and no grab handle, so I couldn't use this one either. By this time a new duty manager had come on duty and he and my husband checked the available rooms and eventually found a suitable room, which was lovely, but a superior room rather than a suite. The duty manager was very apologetic about our accommodation problems and gave us a credit to use in the hotel. We decided to use this for a meal, so we ordered it at 7.15pm and by 8.30 it had not arrived so my husband checked on it and the order had been put on a different table number. They had to redo the meal so it was nearly 9.00 before we ate. The food was fine but we hadn't wanted to wait that long to eat. When we checked out the duty manager was very understanding when we explained what had happened, and made a further adjustment to the bill. A satisfactory outcome, means we may stay again.
