Location Location. Hidden amid the lotus gardens but walking distance to the GAO garden and the spectacular light show WestLake Imoressions. This is a gem if you like getting away from the big box IS style hotels. Truly a local experience. Like a cabin in the woods with a restaurant in
The middle. Walking distance through spectacular grounds to many things.
I stayed at the Lotus Glade for 4 nights in May 2018. My flight arrived around mid-night and it was hard for the taxi driver to locate the hotel as it was off the beaten track. Fortunately I was able to call the hotel receptionist which is open 24/7 to get the direction. When I woke up the next morning, I woke up to being surrounded in a serene and beautiful bamboo forest. The individual bungalows were modern and had a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, working heater with good water pressure. The wifi was good. Despite being off the beaten track, it was still easy to get taxis to get around. The highlight is the hotel grounds. If you enjoy being surrounded by lush vegetation, right on West Lake, this is a place to be.
Facilities were perfect
Staff support was excellent
Proximity to West Lake provided an amazing experience and nearby access to shops, main roads (aka taxis), water tours and local sites.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a 'forest escape' type experience that is quiet and yet still close to everything you need to make your way around West Lake (taxi trip to city was approx 20 mins)
The hotel has veeery nice surroundings. Location is good, convenient to reach all famous places by taxi or even on foot. The room we booked has no floor heating, which was a bit rough for winter stay, so we paid 100rmb more per night to upgrade. The room is quite small but clean. The patio is really nice. Set breakfast A is actually good and enough for two people. Hotel staff is helpful too.
Unbelievably beautiful location, even in January. We were able to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go around West Lake - doubly helpful, because there is literally NO signage visible from the main road when one is being dropped off in a taxi. My best advice - put the cab driver on the phone with the hotel front desk attendant, who (after several map confusions) put us on the right path. Breakfast at the hotel was tasty, the room was idiosyncratic but fun.
Individual cabins in the woods actually in West Lake. Absolutely charming cottages on the edge of West lake. Unfortunately you cannot actually see the lake from the cottages but that is because the tree canopy and garden is so wonderfully dense that it obstructs the view of the lake. The lake is literally a few steps from the walkway entering the property. Rooms/cabins are small and definitely suitable for couples or single travelers. If you want to watch TV and dont speak Chinese then not the place for you. Beds are super comfortable - not hard like typical chinese mattresses with nice duvet covers. each cabin is different. cabin 511 worked for me. It looked out on patio and had japanese style sitting nook plus really oversized wing chair with sliding glass door to a sliver of a patio. This place is not fancy but quaint. There are a number of simple things that need to be done that could make it even more a gem. Not easy to find either. Since actually in West Lake no road to the entrance- just walking path. No taxi drivers have known where it is so tell them it is across from Hangzhou Jinxi Hotel on Yanggongdi rd. Walk into park, take path to right and then another right and hotel on right. wifi is free and great. hot water is plentiful.
Stayed here just one night (overnight leisure trip from Shanghai) but absolutely loved this bungalo-style hotel. Tranquil park setting in a city that's otherwise bustling (even the roads by the lake are crowded with people, cars and scooters). Don't stay in downtown Hangzhou! City was nothing to write home about so this location right on the West lake was perfect. 15 minute walk from Impression West Lake performance (must see!!).
We stayed in a "superior room". Felt very private. Rooms are on the small side but in a nice cozy way (I have a studio apt in Manhattan so am used to tight spaces though!) Loved the heated wooden floors. Free bike rental made for a great afternoon activity around the lake (7 miles total). Service was great and people spoke enough English for us to understand each other.
Be prepared with the hotel's address (written in Chinese characters for the cab driver) and ideally a screengrab of where it is on a map. Ideally arrive during the day when it's light since it's a bit tough to spot. We didn't have any big rolling luggage but I can imagine that would be a bit tough to handle since the hotel is tucked back in the woods. Which is exactly why we loved this spot - "away from it all" means you won't find it on a busy road.
Overall a great stay that I'd definitely recommend!
Walking distance to Hangzhou Impression West Lake. A not to be missed show when you visit. Hotel is situated inside the "woods" Recommend not to bring heavy luggage, as hotel does not have a drive way inside. Short walk to main road public car park. If coming from the northern side of the lake, Yang Gong di Road, after 2nd bridge, that's where the hotel is. Most cab drivers doesn't know where even if you tell them the hotel name. Address in Chinese is a plus for drivers.
We stayed for two nights at this hotel as part of a family reunion trip. There are 9 of us, staying in 4 cabins. It was the perfect place for us. The cabins are small but sufficient. Most of the times, we hung out in the well kept garden eating, drinking, chatting, and enjoying our times together. The hotel is centrally located, so we walked to all the places we wanted to go. Although you can't drive to the lobby, the staff are eager to help you with luggage. I would recommend the hotel to place signage close to the road so that it's easier to find.
Sweet little chalet in the woods in what I consider the nicest location on te lake. The chalet themselves could have been slightly cleaner, with newer towels And stain free bed sheets and perhaps a fridge. The staff was very kind and helped us find the entrance at arrival. Will come back next time I visit the lake. :)
The "hotel" is actually some chalets grouped around a lovely garden within a few steps of the stunning West Lake of Hang Zhou.Reception is in one chalet and meals can be taken in one of the marquees or in the garden. The Chinese breakfast , which we only had once, was cheap and good-usually a better option than western alternatives.A very comfortable king sized bed with good linen ( not changed during our 8 night stay), under floor heating ( a rare luxury in China) and a well equipped shower room. There was very little space for storage and nowhere to sit, very few hangers and no mirror in the bedroom. The walks in the park more than make up for these inconveniences, however, if you don't intend to spend much time in your room. Soundproofing is not too good so if the sound of your neighbours' nocturnal actvities worries you, you might upgrade to a detached chalet! Take note that taxi drivers do not know where this is so you could just say "Yonggondi Lu" and ask to stop after the second hump backed bridge on the way from the city. Cross the road and take a small footbridge into the Lotus Glade.
This is not your average 4-star hotel. Instead it is a number of chalets located in a quiet section of the west-lake park.
The suite-chalet had an entrance through the fully covered terrace, locking yourself into the entre / living room, which is connected to bedroom with a wash-room kinda in the middle. The bath and shower is to the left and bedroom to the right. It is not very big, but works out fine and decoration is very nice and well maintained. There is a Wifi router and TV if needed. Big window in the bedroom an the nice green area outside. We could even see the west-lake from several of the windows in the chalet. Aircon heating worked fine & they had floor heating in the bed-room. That is unusual in China and made the cabin really comfortable in cold weather.
Hotel and room has no dedicated children facilities, but it worked out fine with our youngest sleeping in own travel baby-bed + a 3-year old sleeping on the suite sofa. In smaller rooms it may be a challgenge to accomodate kids.
The hotel is located between gate 3 and gate 4 on Yanggongdi Road, right opposite the Hangzhou Flower Nursery, which the taxi-driver knew - in Chinese / Pinyin: "Hangzhou Hua Pu". In Google Maps, search for "Sudi Chunxiao" - hotel is at same level but closer to the Yanggongdi road. On iPhone with iOS 6, search for above or "Hangzhou Lianyu Hotel".
Getting a taxi on a Sunday afternoon can be a challenge. Book well in advance at hotel.

Nice hotel with a few issues
We had a few issues here, but still recommendable. However, please make sure you know exactly where the hotel is (there is no address on the hotel website, so make sure you bring address from hotels.com + have phone number for hotel reception), as taxi-drivers cannot find the place easily. For our first booking we were contacted and informed that they had double-booked us, so we had to cancel our visit. At the completed visit, we enjoyed the room (cheapest category), but were confused about why some other rooms are labelled as room with a view, since they did not find any difference worth charging extra for. One issue to be noted for those up and about early in the morning: Breakfast is first served from 8.30. Also, on-site restaurants are very limited with respect to choice of items, and they do not seem to have any baby-cots available (so we brought our own). Despite above, we are likely to come back.
