Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
Host lives on-site in a cottage facing yours and watches everything you do (the listing does not state this); felt creepy and invasive because you assume you’ll have some privacy or seclusion from host. When we got there, the host Mark told us there was no AC on the property as “the listing states”. I informed him that the listing didn’t state that anywhere. We never would have booked it if we knew there was no AC, as myself and my husband both have health conditions that require air conditioning, especially in July at the beach. We packed up immediately, left, and were forced to find another last minute lodging down the street double the price because we had our children with us. Mark appeared apologetic and said we should contact the booking agency for a full refund. We could tell by his demeanor and statements that he knew the listing should have stated in writing in the description that there was NO AC, which implies that he knows it should give that important info out of ethical transparency or at least seasonality. So I called VRBO. They were no help and I was on hold for hours. Then transferred to Evolve (property manager). Also no help. 1. Mattresses were plastic, hard, covered with a topper that was yellow and disintegrating when touched. 2. unwashed bed linens (there were several long, black hairs entwined in the (what appeared to be 20 year old) blankets, which were faded, worn and pilled. -black dirt and grime in all Window sills.
