The private 12m x 5m Heated Salt Water Pool is crystal clear and an absolute joy. So often we have rented a gite with a pool and found it just isn’t warm enough to swim in…but no worries here with the heating. It is fenced, with a gate that is difficult to open for children, and there is also a pool alarm. There are 8 comfortable sun beds, and pool towels provided. The outside kitchen near the pool offers a large quality BBQ, working area, sink, and fridge, along with an undercover terrace with dining table for 8 people. The pool is equipped with underwater lighting which is a dream to look at on a late summer evening. Next to the pool is a fully equipped shower room, wc and wash basin, enabling you to shower after your last swim, without having to drag yourself away from the pool…children seem to love this also, then you’re ready for the BBQ and a glass of wine!

Full of French charm and character, La Chouette offers elegant light and bright accommodation, but keeping a warm & homely feel, offering 4 individual bedrooms (3 x King Size Beds, 1 x Twin 3ft Beds), an en-suite bathroom with bath and separate shower to the King size bedroom downstairs, 3 further bedrooms upstairs, and another shower room. Including the fully equipped shower room near the pool, there are 3 bath/shower rooms in total. The stylish, well equipped kitchen with stone work surfaces is lovely to work in, with lots of recipe books to ponder over, and larder items available for your use, without having to buy them from the supermarket and only using them once! It has doors to the outside terrace, and a rather posh Lacanche range cooker. The large living/dining room has a log burner if needed out of season, and French doors onto the terrace. Downstairs you will also find a utility room with washer and dryer, and at the other side of the hall a separate WC, with bidet and wash hand basin. The TV has English channels.

For children you can visit a castle and become a Knight or Damsel, visit Eagles rock birds of prey (where they walk on your head, and have Griffon Vultures with a 10’ wing span!), the Aquarium at Le Bugue where they also have Anacondas and pythons, and fish you can stroke, Horse Riding, Paint Balling, Kayaking, Canoeing, Tree Top Trekking, Cycling, Rock Climbing, Pot Holing, Caves, Gardens at Marqueyssac on Thursday night lit with candles etc.

La Chouette is beautifully furnished with a mix of new and old, Laura Ashley, White Company, Voyage Maison, mixed with some antique furniture and pleasing artwork, we’re sure you will find it a very comfortable, relaxing place to spend your holiday, and hope you can treat it as your home for the duration of your stay.

There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. A Smart television and a DVD player are provided for your entertainment, while complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected. The bathroom features a shower, a bidet, and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a phone, as well as a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Enjoy recreation amenities such as an outdoor pool or take in the view from a garden.

Definitely a 'French Dream'
Beautiful, incredibly well furnished and 'homely' house perfectly positioned to see the amazing scenery and attractions in the area. Canoeing on the river, visiting caves, walking through the beautiful gardens with stunning views across the valley all within a 20 min drive. The beds are the most comfortable we've ever slep in whilst on holiday in France!!!

Lovely House in the Dordogne
We regularly book a house in southern France for our family of 6 adults, 1 infant and 2 terriers, and this house was a good fit for us. We had a lovely time here in variable weather of rain and 17 degrees to hot and 33 degrees. The house and pool area are well provided and the dogs happy and secure in the spacious grounds. The lounge (with UK TV) and kitchen are excellent and we ate outside most nights on the main table. I have three small comments for this review: The electric bicycles were a great bonus for the listing but the batteries are not sufficient for a a trip along the cycle path to Carsac and back up the steep 2km hill to the house (max 20km), without them emptying. The two king bedrooms in the roof upstairs did not have blinds or shutters on the south facing dormer windows and so in the heat they became incredibly hot at night. When we arrived there was a strong smell of drains in the bathrooms, which the manager advised us was due to the rain and would dissipate in a day or so and could not be treated. When the strong smell returned in the second week we were advised to use some eparsil sachets down the WC's to mitigate the smell. This issue should be properly clarified in the description - along with the the use of the eparcil when there are smells, set out in the house guide.

Peaceful oasis
The home is perfect, the grounds are exceptionally beautiful and the hosts are responsive and kind. We needed an accessible accommodation with bed and bath on the ground floor. The entire place is wonderfully laid out, plenty of space and books and dvds and games. The pool was just the right temperature and the kitchen was excellent.A very peaceful place to stay.

Wonderful Property - Great Area
Thank you to Pip and Simon for sharing their wonderful property with us for our holiday. There was ample room for six adults, two babies and a couple of small dogs. The house has everything you could want and really is a home from home and is beautifully furnished. The pool and associated pool house and BBQ area are really excellent and allow for long leisurely lunches and relaxing by (or in) the pool. The location is ideal for exploring the Dordogne. Just 10 minutes to Domme, 15 minutes to Sarlat or Roque Gagneac. There is a really good boulangerie, butchers and Spar supermarket just down the hill (5 mins) in Grolejac for morning requirements and top ups while the hypermarche is easy to find on the road into Sarlat. Overall, we had a fantastic break and would not hesitate to recommend this property to others.

We had a wonderful stay in your beautiful house. The surrounding area is stunning and we had a truly relaxing holiday. We particularly loved the extendable awning over the table in front of the house as it allowed us to eat all of our meals outside but shaded from the sun

Another great holiday !
This was our 3rd stay at this beautiful chateau , we throughly enjoyed our time embracing the peace , solitude, beautiful surroundings and the amazing views. Dome and Sarlat are both within easy reach and have an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants . We have used both Limoges and Bergerac airports from the UK, and find Bergerac, the easiest drive to the property so far . It is such a beautiful part of France , I would highly recommend it !

GOOD WITH CAVEAT!
A charming house generally well equipped (apart from only one pillow and one towel each) in lovely location. However, there was a serious problem with the drains smelling very badly in upstairs bathroom and downstairs bedroom which affected our enjoyment of the holiday. Not nice having to try and hold your breath whilst taking a shower! The manager came and put some drain unblocker down the pipes but it made no difference and is obviously an ongoing problem with the amount of air sanitizers in shower room!

Perfect place in the Dordogne
This is a beautiful property in a very quiet, idyllic part of France. The photos give a good idea of what to expect, but it is honestly so much better in reality. There were only 2 of us, who wanted a place to get away from it all and this was provided in spades. Completely private off a very quiet lane with just wildlife keeping us company. The salt water pool is much bigger than expected and very clean - as we arrived the first day of a long heatwave, we made very good use of it. There is a lovely summer kitchen with unobstructed views of the countryside if you don’t want to leave the pool area. It is obvious that this is Pip and Simon’s home and not just a holiday rental as it feels like a home and everything you could need is available. For just us 2, we couldn’t ask for more, but both inside and outside space would be perfect for families.

We had a wonderful week staying in this tastefully decorated, well equipped, idyllically located house. So many beautiful towns and villages to visit just a short drive away and plenty to do around the house. The heated pool and table tennis was a big plus for the kids who were kept well entertained all week. We were also lucky with great weather during the day and impressive thunderstorms at night. We would definitely recommend to others
