Classic Catskills Estate, Amazing Location!

Welcome to Lachland! (PLEASE NOTE AT THIS TIME OUR MINIMUM RENTAL IS 30 DAYS, DUE TO LOCAL LAW) This 5 bedroom home has been a beloved family vacation home for 4 generations. Lachland is located on a private, gated road. You will experience spectacular views , and nature walks that begin the moment you step outside. The gracious 3000 square foot home easily contains and entertains a large family or friends group. Very comfortably sleeps 13 guests, with additional space for squeezing a few more in. The house began life as a barn in the late 1800's. It was then converted to a hunting lodge in the early 20th century. It has been in our family since the late 1940's, when the hunting lodge was converted once again to a family home. The original hand-hewn barn beams are still visible in much of the house. The decor has charming vintage appeal with many original details. Bedrooms include: the master bedroom suite with a king sized bed, private bathroom and dressing area, the all season 'sleeping porch' that is great for kids or families with 5 twin beds, the green room with 2 twin beds, the blue room with 2 full beds, and the sunrise room which has a king sized bed (custom built raised bed to witness the sunrise, truly awe-inspiring). Vintage 1950's kitchen is well equipped and has large modern appliances. There are several serious cooks in our family, so the kitchen is well stocked for cooking and baking. The dining room is directly adjacent to the kitchen and has seating for up to 15 at an antique banquet table. Many of our guests have commented how wonderful and rare it is to be able to sit down together at one table. A large living room makes it easy to reconnect with family and friends. A stately Steinway piano, circa 1893, adds to the fun. The living room is part of the original barn structure, and maintains a rustic elegance. Lounging on the wide open porch and soaking up the spectacular views is a required activity. You will have access to basic household items such as dish soap, paper towels, aluminum foil, etc, to make your vacation seamless. House linens are provided, no need to bring sheets towels, or extra blankets. Explore the grounds and be taken in by the sweeping lawn, rock formations and rolling fields that surround the house. Spend a lovely evening at the stone fire pit, roasting marshmallows and watching the fireflies. Make sure the kids visit our fairy house, a favorite of the Lachland children. Perhaps the best feature of the house is the vista of the surrounding mountains and the Ashokan Reservoir. The open porch and raised stone patio allow for breathtaking views, and many of the bedrooms have excellent views also. Large picture windows in the living room, dining room, and kitchen ensure that you'll have great scenery inside the house too. A unique getaway in a truly beautiful area. High speed satellite internet/Wi-Fi. Please contact us with any questions, we are more than happy to assist you.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, which features a fireplace and a Smart TV. There's a private balcony or patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
After a day on the slopes, enjoy recreational amenities, which include ski-in/ski-out access. This vacation home also features an arcade/game room and barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like wireless internet access and onsite parking.

Easter Family Getaway
Beautiful location and view, extremely quiet. Room enough for everyone (we had 9 adults and 3 kids). We hosted an Easter dinner for 15, the kitchen and dining room had room to spare. We had beautiful spring weather so most time was spent on the huge porch or around the fire pit.

President's Day Weekend Retreat
House easily held 13 people comfortably. House layout was especially conducive to shared experiences. Huge living area, large dining room table able to seat everyone, play room for children all flowing. Sleeping rooms also exceptional. And of course the view from almost every room was spectacular. Have done this family/friend retreat over President's Day for many years. This was the best.

A little bit of heaven!
Tammany, the property manager, could not have been more helpful. The house was all we had hoped for: comfortable, well appointed, a cozy atmosphere with a kid friendly space, games, piano, sunny porch with gorgeous views of the valley below. Comfortable beds, a fully applianced kitchen well stocked with tableware and cookware. The dining room prefers a large picture window. Would definitely go back for another visit.

Wonderful Weekend!
The property was exactly what we needed for our weekend away. We took a group of 8 children and five adults and everyone had an incredible time. The house was exactly as described and more - it had all of the amenities one could possibly need. Tammany was super communicative and wonderful. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a getaway.

The house was perfect for a large family gathering.
The house was large enough for a big family gathering. The dining room table accommodated 18 for Christmas dinner. The views were amazing and I was able to watch stunning sunrises from the bedroom window. The host was very accommodating when we had to change are plans due to weather. I highly recommend this property to large groups.

Great Fun, Great Location and Lots of Room
A group of us knitters, 6 to be exact, swarmed to the Rhinebeck area for a weekend of wooly fun. We needed a location that we could relax, knit and socialize in between activities. This house fit the bill. It was fully equipped for a much larger group. Plenty of comfy beds, bathrooms, comfy living room seats and a great fireplace. The views are incredible and watching the sunrise was an activity enjoyed and captured by all. It is a bit dark in the living room so if you are knitting, bring your neck light. We would stay again!

Beautiful property and home. Although the home is very large, it is a quintessential farmhouse cozy. The living room in particular is wonderful to be in during nights and rainy weather. Tammany was extremely friendly and responsive... everything you could ask for in a host. Will be visiting again soon.

Wonderful house in awesome town
My family (a mix of adults and kids under 7) had a great week here. The house is huge and well-stocked. There’s a ton to do nearby - hiking, biking along the reservoir, exploring Woodstock. The 50 minute drive to Taghaunic State Park is well worth it - the kids swam in the lake and there’s a spot to put in kayaks and paddle boards. There were a couple small issues that didn’t negatively impact our experience but might be worth mentioning for others. One, the bugs surrounding the house are awful. Not just mosquitoes and biting insects, but swarms of gnats. The second you step off the porch, they’re on you. Two, although we didn’t see any mice, we noticed that they got into our food at night. We didn’t leave anything out in the open - it was all in drawers and cabinets - but mice definitely got into cookies and pop tarts. After a few days, we started leaving our snacks in the oven overnight. Three, the house didn’t have air conditioning. It wasn’t an issue at all the first few days bc it was 70 degrees and rainy but later in the week when it got up near 90 the house got a little stuffy. There are numerous fans though which does help. Overall we had a fantastic time. Tammany is extremely responsive and wonderful to work with. We definitely recommend staying here!

Simply Amazing
My wife and I went for four nights with our 8 year old daughter, 5 year old son, and new au pair from Chile (who is 18). It was simply amazing. I have never been to a VRBO (or AirBnB) that was as spotlessly clean and well-stocked as this (and we stay at way too many!). The house has an amazing vintage charm, but is very modern with all new appliances. The vintage charm is not warn - the enamel on the 1950s (?) kitchen is in perfect shape as are the pink and green tiles in the bathrooms. I share that as an example of how clean and amazing it was. It is about 12 minutes to downtown Woodstock, but a world away (jn a good way). The peacefulness is amazing. the large picture windows have you gazing at the view and forgetting about life for a long while. (We even sometimes forgot about our children who became feral running through the woods and having adventures.) The wind chime is calming. The bell on the porch perfect for drawing the kids in for lunch. The living room was our favorite. Very big and spacious. An old record collection with a new record player. A warm fire place. Radiator heat (if you never had radiator heat it is amazing - not dry at all and toasty warm). As a side note, the showers have amazing water pressure! The internet (satellite) was totally adequate - I even took a few video work calls. Though we mostly used it to figure out what good restaurants to order from and where to go hiking. Our host was just a text away and very responsive. Woodstock and all the hikes close by were great. There were only five of us, but we wish there were more and we plan on going back with friends or family as soon as possible! You cannot go wrong staying here!
