Judge Isaac Parker "The Hanging Judge" set not the bench here for the Western district of Arkansas and Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). Pretty Boy Floyd grew up across the river and lived in Fort Smith for a while. Bonnie and Clyde stayed here after their wreck to try and recover.
