The Heceta House vacation rental is a lovely and comfortable home within walking distance to Heceta Beach. The top level of this house is a 'surf shack' style room, where you can sit and read the day away and watch the ocean.

There is a wonderfully whimsical room for children with an undersea mural painted on the wall and a bunk bed in the shape of a boat. And two additional bedrooms both with queen beds. Relax in the upstairs master suite which has claw foot tub and second TV/DVD. Open the windows and let the sounds of the sea rock you to sleep.

Sit and enjoy the company of family and friends next to the fireplace, enjoy walks to the beach, or come visit the quaint shops and restaurants in Old Town Florence.

Florence draws folks from all over for its lakes, mini-golf, world renowned golf course, horse-back riding, hiking, quaint downtown, tide pools, dunes and whale watching.

The Heceta House is the perfect place to come enjoy the feel of being at the beach.

The Fisherman's Cottage is a separate studio rental on the same property that can sleep an additional 2 people with the new double bed. Soothing colors and reclaimed wood provide the perfect escape for a romantic weekend or beachside solitude. The cottage is just steps to the beach and it is equipped with TV/DVD microwave, mini-fridge and eating area.

Great house, fun town!
The reason I decided on this house was for the cottage, so my adult kids could have their own space and privacy. I know that things can happen and the water damage was unfortunate but I do feel I should have been given a discount since it was not available and didn't get notice until days before our arrival. That being said we did have plenty of room in the house. The house was super fun to explore, we had all the items we needed, and it was a great location. The hot tub was the highlight of the family. Thank you!

not a great experience
after booking all of my confirmation information came through vacasa instead of vrbo. we made several attempts at contacting and resolving the issue. the night of check in we were told by a representative from vacasa that the local team would reach out to us to resolve the issue. we never received a phone call or any kind of contact from them again. the following day we started off contacting vacasa again. we spent about two hours on the phone with them and by the end of the phone call we got hung up on by their representative. after the second phone call with vacasa we decided to call vrbo. they tried to be much more helpful but again told us the best course of action would be through thee property management (vacasa). we spent another couple of hours on the phone with the representative from vrbo. they told us we would he contacted the following day (day 3 of 7 of our vacation) about being relocated to a different place. we were never contacted by vrbo again. we did not call them back the following day because our vacation was being consumed by phone calls getting us no where. i sent messages through both the vacasa and vrbo apps and again was not contacted again by either one. anytime that we attempted these phone calls and messages we had to leave the house to get phone service. we booked a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom vrbo and we got a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom space. we have attempted to get a partial refund simply to pay for the 3rd party of our group to pay for the hotel th

Rustic coastal home with some special features. Location short walk to beach, front deck a great place to sip some coffee and enjoy sunrise, wraps to side deck with hot water tap for the outside shower made cleaning off the sand easy. And the hot tub is a great place to relax with the coastal trees acting as wind block and privacy. Was fun place to stay of my group.

Unfortunately
Needs a deep scrub down , came in to dirty floors and carpet we vacuumed before using a lot of debri under all couches and tables sent pictures of doors and such with grim around the door handles and vanity upstairs had stuff on front . Heavy fragrance on all linens we washed a few times before using and still potent . House was very cold we found space heaters to heat it up there needs to be communication on heat prior maybe a guest handbook . And Wednesday we had no water it was a scheduled shut off of 8am -7pm according to city it should not of been rented out . Very disappointed with that type of inconvenience. The house is charming if cleaned and heated properly we would definitely come back but as of now we will scratch this home off the list . Fridge is in poor state as well .

Bring your eyeshades
We have stayed in many VRBO and this one did not meet our expectations. It is managed by a company and had no homey touches you usually find. Plus no instructions about appliances, garbage, amenities. More than half the windows do not have shades or curtains. Lots of hooks on the walls for clothes but not a lot of closet space. The hot tub was nice, the beds were comfortable and lots of hot water for the shower. Kitchen has just the basics. The place has the feel of grandma’s outdated lake house. I would not recommend a friend stay here. Next time I’ll make sure I’m booking through the owner and not a management company.

Nostalgia and Family
We've been talking about renting this place for a long time. The boyfriend has quite the heartfelt history with this house and the family that owns it. It was very nostalgic for him to be there, be able to fix a couple things, and show his son the stories behind all the art, the wood floor, and little items around the house/property. We wish we could have stayed longer and plan to be back soon. Thank you SB and MB!!! All our gratitude and love!!

Comfortable & close to the beach
Nice porch and hot tub, spacious kitchen/dining area, comfortable bedrooms. The house faces inland/east, so the front porch is sunny in the morning but overall the house and deck felt shady the rest of the day. To get to the beach, you walk down and around on the road itself--no sidewalks, but little traffic--to a public beach access. Close to town and groceries.

Wonderful Family Vacation Home
We found this home to be the perfect location for our family getaway. The house is rustic but perfect for families with kids and dogs. The deck is gated to keep kids and dogs safe. There was a new washer and dryer and plenty of towels and bedding. The outdoor heated shower and jacuzzi were a big hit. The kitchen was well stocked and provided all the implements that we needed. The gas barbecue was excellent. The location is just a few blocks from the ocean and very close to Fred Meyer for groceries. It was a short drive to the exploding whale park and we found that beach to be ideal for sandcastles and playing in the water with little ones. We will be back!

VRBO is in it for the money
A dump. So many things broken, no smoke detectors working no batteries or children's room had a base plate with the smoke detector missing, back door would not open dead bolt broken, children's room second floor had no screen to prevent kids from hanging out window, dryer has only one working setting, closet door master bedroom opens by pulling on screw threads knob stripped, garbage cans full when we arrived no were to put garbage, ran out of dishwasher tablets and garbage bags asked house keeping to bring us more said yes but did not follow thru, racks and draws in refrigerator broken limiting food storage, door knob to master bathroom falling off we tightened with screw driver so it would work to find one of the two screws stripped probably why it was hanging, found hose to fill hot tub still running with water running of deck into neighbors yard with hot tub temperature only at 94 degrees still warming up. Many more things that I could complain about but then I would only be whining, PLEASE INSPECT THE PLACES YOU RENT.

Home away from home
It was so nice to stay in a house and cottage rather than hotel rooms. We had 3 kids under 4 years so we really appreciated the fenced in and gated wraparound porch. Having a washer and dryer was great.... with 6 kids we washed alot. The huge hot tub was a treat after walking and site seeing all day. Loved the short walk to the beach. It felt very secluded even though there were neighbors all around us. We got to watch humming birds and ground squirrels on the property.

Great Family Trip
The location to the beach access made walks, runs and family time on the beach a breeze. The house worked fine for a family of four (2 adults, 2 teenagers). However, i provide the following advice re rooms: only one room (main floor) is completely closed off from the rest of the house, the children’s bunk beds are a loft and the upstairs master has a door separating it from the loft, but is open to the staircase. There is only one shower in the house, but another is available if you have the guest house as well. We really enjoyed our stay - the location, the hot tub, the grill and the family time.

the listing is overselling the property
The pictures of the place are a few years old at least. The "kids room" is just a loft over the main living room area, and it means that if you want to put your kids to bed but stay up yourself you are out of luck.the whole place feels like the owners gave up caring about it 10 years ago. The windows don't all have blinds, which means you are up with the sun whether or not you want to be. There is no view of the ocean at all. And the hot tub is not very well maintained either. I would never stay here again or recommend anyone else stay here.

Bad experience. Owner canceled a fully paid reservation over Thanksgiving week
Dishonest owner. Beware this owner will cancel your reservation with no cause (except they feel like using the house the week you reserve it) We reserved his home well over 6 months in advanced for a family reunion Thanksgiving trip (we also reserved 3 others homes in the neighborhood which we did not have problems with) With a family of 5 from Atlanta the flight expense from Atlanta is huge (we had already made the airfare commitment being we had paid for the rental house in full in advance). Sadly this owner decided they wanted to use the home and canceled our reservation for Thanksgiving week only a month prior. This caused us to have to rent a home all most 10 miles away from our family for he entire week. This owners selfish act impacted our family reunion in a daily bases for an entire week. I cannot stress enough that anyone who does not have flexibly travel plans should NOT rent from this owner.

Great property, clean, and close to the beach
Overall we had a great week at the house. Having the extra cottage was great to stick the older kids in. The open floor plan in the house was a little noisy for the younger kids with us in terms of sleeping but otherwise was a lot of fun. The hot tub was great, and the location was good as well. We would recommend it to anyone.
