The original Farmhouse and Metato (chestnut drying store) was built in 1840 and abandoned in 1946. The property was a total ruin and the restoration, completed in 2009, used traditional materials such as chestnut beams yet incorporating modern standards and and facilities. In the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Apuane on the south facing slopes overlooking the Turrite Valley across to the Alpi beyond in about 5 acres with a 10m pool. There is a gated access from the public road down to a parking area sufficient for up to 6 cars, (plenty of room for ball games}. From the parking area, proceeding towards the main house you will first pass the pool on your right followed by the entrance to the top Metato (king size bedroom with en-suite) followed by the entrance to the lower Metato (twin bedroom with en-suite). The farmhouse is entered on the middle level into the fully equipped kitchen. The separate dining room is on the left and on the right the sitting room, which extends out on to a veranda. The upper level has the main kingsize double bedroom, a single bedroom and a bathroom. The lower floor has two twin bedrooms, a bathroom and utility a room. The adjacent Metato has a kingsize double bedroom and twin bedroom, both with en-suite and separate entrances. All the rooms are furnished in a similar way to the photos. The pool area can be enclosed and has a gate and the area outside the ground floor is also fenced although the grounds extend further. There is an outside dining area with BBQ and there are several separate area in which to relax and plenty of recreational space for children to play. Free unlimited wifi and mobile phone reception is excellent.
