Very Good

All staff members encountered were helpful and friendly. They work very hard and we noticed. The hotel is a great location to be able to walk to Royal Mile and down Princes Street. When everything closes early than expected in Edinburgh being able to hang out in the lounge area was great. At first glance, there are some run-down shops nearby, but I felt safe and it was easy to get to two different tram stops without worry.
Great location just Opposite Scott monument nice walk to Edinburgh Castle, and the Royal Mile.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
We were disappointed there wasn’t any air conditioning in our room, but the couple we travelled with had air conditioning in their room. It was just so hot. The bed was not comfortable.
Other than that, the stay was great. Breakfast was very good and the service team was very kind!
I enjoyed our stay have stayed here before but thought it was overpriced…. The room we had there was a lot of noise at night like
A door banging ..outside there was metal in the road so everytime a car of someone walked over it you hear it .. the building opposite had all scaffolding up like it was being renovated … but the beds were spacious very comfortable very clean .
Front desk people were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Building is old but fairly well maintained. Definitely not handicap accessible. Unfortunately they are doing construction on the building next door so there was noise all night. Rooms have no a/c but a fan was available. Unfortunately not many electrical outlets.
Our bedroom was very small but ok as only sleeping there. Very clean though and bed very comfortable. Excellent position for visiting all the sights of Edinburgh and transport to and from the airport.
First thing -access is terrible -two flights of stairs to get to reception no alternative. Daytime staff pleasant. Room Spartan. Not a thing on the walls nothing. Bed clean and comfortable. Bathroom plain functional. No window in room! There was one but it was shuttered and boarded up.
Getting into hotel after ten was ridiculous- lobby closed you had to ring reception give room number name etc- felt like visiting a minimum security prison complete with gruff guard! Corridors small and poky - the entire establishment had the feel of a 1950’s boarding house. The price was extortionate- a 2 star hotel at best.

Liked: Staff & service
Pros:
Very close to train station & old town.
Delicious restaurant
Spacious room
Cons:
our room was on the end and it was VERY noisy in the morning with large trucks
You have to go up a few flights of stairs with luggage to get to the check in.
Rooms are dated. Plug ins not accessible near our bed or night stand - they were across the room.
Room for 3 was well laid out with plenty of room. Bar area very nice with attentive staff and reception were very helpful too. Hotel is in an excellent location with easy access to Royal Mile and railway station. Good discount at Q Park through hotel too.
Very nice property in a central location. As they clearly advertise, there is a flight of stairs to access the lobby, so not a good choice for anyone with mobility issues. There is a lift from the lobby up to rooms.
Great location for the castle, but had to schlep my suitcases two floors to the lobby.

The room had NO USB ports. Huge inconvenience in this century. The room also had an ozone smell to it that stayed even with both windows opened, not that we could open them very far. It smelled like a musty heater had been going. This was in August. WAY overpriced. Would not recommend.
