It seems all of Edinburgh is under construction. The dinner I had in the restaurant was amazing! Best food I had during the 3 weeks I spent in Scotland.

OMG - this place is amazing - would highly recommend. The quirk & facilities made our stay one of the hest hotels we have experienced. Tbey could bot have helped us any more. Their facilities including the lifts for disabled were insane - totally state of the ate. Would highly recommend this hotel especially Gordon who could not have dine more for us - thank you.

I highly recommend Malmaison Edinburgh City. The location of this hotel is excellent, our king room was large and comfortable, and the restaurant was very good. The staff were wonderful - friendly, accessible, and extraordinarily helpful. I’d especially like to thank Ella (front desk) and Mhairi (bar) for taking such good care of us and our friends. You guys were incredible!

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay here, it was a very nice room and the staff was very friendly and helpful. These are not really complaints, but the slightest of issues - there were so many light switches in the room, it was difficult to remember which turned off what. Our first night we couldn’t figure out how to turn off a bathroom light, so it was on all night! We also got a room with two double beds, which is what we wanted, but they were super close together - again not really a problem, except that my friend snores so loudly I wanted more distance! Its location is also very walkable to the Old Town for most people of average physical ability – about a 15 minute walk, which starts flat then is uphill. I would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it!

Really nice rooms, great location, shame they have no parking or their own. Reception didn’t seem super confident - asked me to pay for the room when I already had. Breakfast on a weekday started at 7am so we didn’t get the “full works” despite paying for it. We did get a nice breakfast delivered in the morning but had to call again for milk. Really nice hotel but for a 4 star hotel, quite expensive hotel I expect a little more.

Don’t stay here
This is point blank not a 4 star hotel. Spent 1500 USD for three nights here (middle of the week), regrettably. Here’s why this place sucks: - two elevators one goes to even floors one goes to odd so if you’re on an odd floor you have to elevator down to 5, go down the stairs, to exit the building on 4. - this place requires you to lug your luggage up/ down stairs and bellhops are nowhere to be seen - the hotel is creepy. Straight out of a David lynch movie. Creepy art with always a portrait looking at you from every angle. - dirty. Black hairs on my sheets upon arrival. Cleaning staff unbelievably lazy. Room was “cleaned” but bed not made, trash not taken out etc. only proof of housekeeping was a fresh towel. - the restaurant also sucks. Told me the kitchen closed at 9 pm and to hurry down there, then I sat there and my table wasn’t ready until past 9. It was not busy and they still served me but lol don’t make me hurry only to wait. Food was mediocre. - overall, a cold dark place with creepy vibes and incompetent staff
