I would love to come back to Hotel Du Vin! The bed was comfortable, the bathtub was bliss after a long day, and the hotel itself was unique and beautiful!
Lovely room! Ceilings in dormers a bit of a challenge for my husband but not for me. Very well appointed. Staff couldn’t be better. Front desk young woman with dog named LOLA was especially helpful and delightful. Wish I’d asked her name. Great location for us. Highly recommend!
We had a suite which was very nice! The only suggestion I have is to have a cart for luggage when the staff is bringing luggage from the street to the lobby.
We were a bit disappointed. Check- in was a bit torturous; we left our bags to be stored and they were still in reception when we came back 4 hours later. Breakfast was average although the staff were really good there. Overall it was pretty expensive for what it was, and we wouldn't stay there again.
I would have given 5 stars if only rating the hotel. I gave 4 stars because of the 3 star experience with the restaurant.
The hotel itself was terrific. The staff was attentive and wonderful. The room was charming and well equipped with upscale amenities. The location was excellent and within easy walking distance to attractions. If stairs may be an issue to some, it would be important to request a room accessible by lift. We were on the third floor in a section of the hotel that allowed us to take the lift for 2 floors, but then we needed to use stairs to go up another flight. Fortunately, they have an all night porter who was able to help with our luggage at 4am as we had to catch an early flight.
Unfortunately, the restaurant was disappointing. When we dined, there were only three other tables occupied. We ordered cocktails which took about 20 minutes to arrive. We ordered the Chateaubriand with a bottle of Malbec special. Portions of the meat were so tough that it was actually hard to cut with a steak knife and a couple of my bites were impossible to chew The stated salad was a disappointment and consisted of some kind of small green garnishment on the plate. When the check came, I was surprised by the added service charge for the cocktails.
We would definitely stay at the hotel again, but would dine at one of the other nearby options.
This hotel is a gem! The location is superb and the hotel is magnificent. The property is well kept, with an open courtyard, restaurant, and a couple of bars to choose from. The rooms are well decorated, very classy and comfortable. Bathrooms are clean. The staff are A . Super friendly and helpful. Cannot wait to return to Edinburgh and Hotel du Vin.
Kate and Mayan and Andrea were so helpful and accommodating and the room is very comfortable. The bar is an excellent wine bar with a knowledgeable bartender who is funny and personable. The building has a lot of rich history (just ask!) and is very well located for all the tours u went on.
A great place to stay, especially during the fringe festival, as it is in the center of things in the old town. Very comfortable patio, lounge and restaurant that offers an quiet escape from the crowds. Our only complaint was that they were apparently quite understaffed in their restaurant and bar/café area, and many of the staff appeared inexperienced. With the exception of breakfast, we often had to wait a long time for any service.
I was very happy with how helpful the concierges Kate and Mayan were. They were incredibly helpful and kind and made me feel welcome. The hotel is perfectly located to walk to many attractions like the vaults cathedral and the fringe
