When we arrived, the staff did not seem to know of our booking and we had to show the confirmation email from hotels.com to evidence the booking. Then they showed us to three different rooms, the first two not being at all what we’d booked so we rejected them - the third was closest so by this point we just took the room. Then they weren’t sure how much to charge us so again we had to refer to the confirmation email. None of this was particularly disappointing, but it was a little unnerving to start off our stay.
Our room was generally fine, although we did encounter a lot of insects - a large millipede on the floor, a beetle IN one of the beds, lots of ants in the bathroom, and various other flies and insects.
The location was ok, given that Uvita is quite a small place - but future guests should be aware that it is a 5-10 minute walk along the edge of a main road (no pavement and no street lights) to the nearest shops/restaurants.
We also found it difficult to communicate with staff who spoke little English.
