Marriot Marquis is a safe hotel. You have to go through metal detectors and scan personal items similar to the airport every time you enter the hotel. Even though it’s a busy hotel being in the City Center with various events the staff takes the time to remember your name. Everyone is very polite and businesslike. Shout out to Amir and other staff at the Concierge Desk that helped arrange our tours.
The hotel is strategically located just across from the Metro Red Line and you can go anywhere in the City with the Metro. The design of the hotel is genious. From the second floor it leads into a shopping Mall with lots of eating places, stores including a large supermarket and the Metro Bridge that takes you over to the Metro Red line. You can buy a day pass for 6 riyals or $US 1.65 equivalent and use it all day to travel all around the City. Uber is very cheap also. We paid the equivalent of US $15 for airport transfer back to the airport. Don’t use the hotel airport transfer if you have Uber app. It’s about 10 times as much. We used it when we arrived but quickly learned that uber was way less expensive.
We were on the 32nd floor and the view of the City especially at nights was amazing.
We never got a chance to use the hotel restaurants since the food court at the adjoining Mall had some good resturants. For breakfast we particularly loved the 24 hr IHOP at the food court
Overall a great hotel that I would book again if I’m ever in Doha again.
