Pretty good
Sonder is a different kind of stay. In Detroit, this is an entire apartment building owned by Sonder - some are long-term tenants, some are overnight guests. For a short stay, we missed some of the perks of the hotel, like breakfast and a pool, but the extra space and kitchen are great perks for a longer stay. Everything was clean, front desk were nice, and it was pretty comfy, but not posh-comfy. Would do it again.

The building code is a bit difficult as it's noisy outside and you can't always hear the beeps additionally the bathroom was challengingly small

The room was nice but the shower is so small and unless you’re 5 foot and 100 pounds there is not enough room in there. The water pressure was terrible so showering took forever. You are supposed to get your own towels, wash clothes from their linen closet which I thought was great except there were never wash clothes available. It’s in a great location, comfortable bed and keyless entry. You have to use a code to get in the building and your room but it wasn’t provided via email and you either have to download the app or call. Downloading the app is fine but would have appreciated an email or text stating that.

Clean, spacious and convenient
I still can’t believe this room cost less than some of the crappy motels in the area. I had a studio apartment that was spacious and bright and had a view of the city. I didn’t want to leave my room. Check-in through the app is easy and customer service responded quickly when I chatted them. I’ll definitely check out Sonder when booking my next hotel.

I felt extremely safe here, and it was more than comfortable with all the amenities needed. The room was pretty dirty, with a 7up can and a pacifier under the bed, as well as plenty of dirty dishes. No big deal, something I can clean up, but still. Overall 8/10 stay.

A lovely clean apartment with lots of facilities, although the shower was a bit hit and miss. The room is lovely in an aging building, but is easy to get to local transport and local tourist sites such as the baseball stadium.

Very good value. The room was great. Very big spacious studio. The surrounding block or 2 is kinda empty other than bus stops which can be annoying if you're very nose sensitive, but walkable to a lot of stuff within 5-10 blocks. Room has lots of big windows with shades but not blackout if you're very light sensitive. The building and elevators / lobby are definitely older and a little beaten down, but the room itself was super clean and modern. Ultimately very hard to find anything at a better price in this location.

Spent a week in this really nice studio apartment type room. Was as nice as portrayed in the pictures. In a nice walkable area of downtown Detroit. Plenty of restaurants in the area. Code sign-in was different but worked great.

Great location and easy check in. I would rather stay at a hotel though. They don’t provide housekeeping unless you pay for it so things that at a hotel would be provided on a daily basis (restock of personal items) they dont. The bathroom needs updating, very minimal counter space, making it hard to do makeup, hair, etc..

Not a very clean hotel
Entering the hotel and room often took punching the keys in multiple times. The entrance to the hotel entrance looks sketchy, after staying two days and asked for cleaning, I was told cleaning would cost additional $80 to $100 (my booked stay was 3 nights total). Floor in hotel room felt a bit sticky, there was little countertop space on the bathroom sink, we used the floor for storing our bathroom items. View from the 8th floor window was not great and we decided to just keep the blinds down, for the duration of our stay. The TV remote only properly functioned from the left side of the bed. The entrance to and inside the hotel looks somewhat dirty. I’m surprised that this hotel has high ratings on hotels.com. The carpets in the room looked fairly dirty as well. On the plus side the room we picked was fairly spacious, with stove, dishwasher, full sized fridge and walk in closet. Parking was across the street for $30 a day, with in and out privileges.

My stay here was above and beyond what I expected. My room had an incredible view of the city with large oversized windows to make the stay feel even more special. I wasn't sure how the feel would be with minimal staff, but the security was always present and kind - I felt very safe at the hotel. Have been recommending this to everyone!
