"A great hotel, staff were all lovely, had a dog friendly room which was clean and smart. Hotel caters for doggy people but also has separate areas if anyone doesn't like dogs. Essy to park, a short walk from the village centre. Breakfast was delicious and happy hour 2-4-1 cocktails were a bonus. "

The Northumberland gastronomy that the menu provides is very clever and an explosion of local flavours is backed up with an array of well selected wines - Albariño albeit Spanish or Portuguese is recommended. Take the time to enjoy this beautiful boutique hotel but don’t ignore the history of the town of Hexham and neighbouring enclaves. A visit to the Abbey crypt is well worth the large stepped decent and a trawl through the local antiques often uncovers a gem or two.
