Good food reasonably priced with large choice for all catered. Clean warm room and a super breakfast next day that was very filling for a reasonable price allin for £8.75. Would def stay again

Just what I needed
I enjoyed my stay at the Blue Jay. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. My room was good and the bed was comfortable. Despite the Blue Jay being close to the major roads network I found a useful set of off road paths towards the city centre so could walk around easily to get to where I needed to be. Good size car park. I enjoyed my meals in the Blue Jay especially the apple crumble and custard. I would book to stay in the Blue Jay again when I visit Derby.

Got ourselves 1 Room Twin single for a night. It was good for it's price, reception were welcoming, room size is reasonably enough for 2 adults wanting a budget friendly and quality rest. Would stay there again if I'm stopping by Derby.

Not as good as other Marston's I have stayed at. The bed was uncomfortable and too firm. They also gave us 2 key cards for the doors but only one worked. Would have thought they'd check they work before handing them over to us. I had to wait until other people staying there used their cards before I could get through each door otherwise I'd have had to go back over to the bar to sort new card. Apart from that the staff are friendly and welcoming and room was clean/cosy. Food wise there is the pub restaurant where you check in - I had the hunters chicken which was nice but there is also a carvery. However, I saw people turning up for it while I was there to be told carvery ended at 8pm so something to be aware of. There is also a McDonald's right next to it. Stayed here for 2 nights and was able to keep the same room for both nights, and the building was quiet the whole time.

Good location, very nice hotel for reasonable cost
We stayed one night visiting family nearby. A good clean little hotel. Room was very clean and spacious. Could not fault it. Very handy having the reataurant and bar over the road. We had a nightcap and breakfast the next morning. A great choice. Will return when visiting this area again.

Great for a quick overnight stay
We spent one night here in September 2024. Check-in staff member was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clown and tidy and despite being next to a major road, very quiet. Pub next door serves ok food and drink, and has a good atmosphere. We had to be off early in the morning, so no idea what breakfast was like, but I liked that we could check out on line and just drop the key. This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not the height of luxury but was a solid, clean hotel with a comfortable bed at a decent price.
