This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel, the first time was in a double room and i was very satisfied. This time I stayed in a single room, the room was ok except you had to get out of bed to turn the light out, and the bed sheets were less than satusfactory.

Anyone giving this hotel a review which defines it as very good is misleading future guests. It barely qualifies to be described as good; no more, no less. It’s very good value (free car park and breakfast included) but on the whole this is a tired place. My room looked like it had last been decorated or refurbished 20 years ago, at best. It was advertised as superior but I’m not sure what it was superior to. It was bog standard. The carpets in the common areas looked like they were laid last century, and most recently hoovered a couple of years ago. Worn, filthy and dilapidated. Yes, the staff were friendly and efficient, but I feel like that should be the minimum standard in hospitality, rather than something that merits significant praise. There were cleaning materials left in the breakfast area, in the same place as food and crockery. And finally, if f-bomb-peppered racist banter is not your thing, then neither is the hotel bar. Even at 6pm.

Away for work

This was a 1-night stay for work. I was in room 107 and it was a good sized room with a large ensuite (watch out for the step down into ensuite). Tv and wifi were okay but bed was not comfortable. Nice large bath towels. Free parking at rear of venue - need to drive up as if you were going into public car park. Breakfast (included in my room cost) was good and hot - I had the full cooked breakfast.

The building is or should be a Listed Building, so much character. Ok no lifts rickety old floors and stairs, but that just adds to the experience. Really friendly staff, room ckean and well presented, cleaned and restocked every day of my stay, a rare thing in modern hotels. Good breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay.

The reception was not manned so had to check in at the bar. The building is old but that is no excuse to not clean to a high standard. Issue is it all needs refurbishing. All a bit quirky, uneven floors, lots of steps. No excuse for hairs in the bath plug hole. No soap. The last straw was no hot water in the morning. Breakfast was ok so I was less angry when I checked out. Staff apologised but just gave me an email address to write to. Bed very uncomfortable. £143 badly spent. It’s a shame as it could be so much better.

This was our second time staying here. We stay when we go to Brands Hatch for the BSB racing. The hotel is convenient and has parking. The rooms are old and tired and could be cleaner but bed linen and towels are very clean. The food in the bar wasn't great But we found a fab Chinese down the road. Breakfast was nice but it was a shame they didn't start serving until 8am on weekends, this meant we couldn't have it on Sunday as we would arrive at the racing too late. The bedroom was incredibly hot but a fan was provided which helped a bit.

Simply terrible

The hotel was run down, musty, dirty and unwelcoming. The bath was littered with hairs behind a mouldy shower curtain - no way was I going to shower in the morning. The carpet and floors had seen much better days, but I daren’t think about that for too long. We did consider just leaving, but luckily the beds looked clean and they were comfortable enough so we stuck it out. The room was stifling, with only one window able to open, sadly that didn’t help as it just enhanced the pub goers noise which went on until 4am! Terrible location, leaving couldn’t come quick enough as we hurried past a punter tending his 10am beer. Staff seemed to want to prolong our suffering by leaving us waiting at the desk/bar whilst they finished a personal conversation in front of us. The only bright star in the place was the lady at breakfast - so friendly and genuinely lovely, I hope she receives the recognition she deserves.

Another pleasant stay

I stay here for the convenience and location to where I need to be. Second stay here. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I had a queen size bed which was lovely and comfy. Breakfast was also nice. It’s a lovely old pub/hotel with a friendly atmosphere. Would recommend.
