About this property
Crystal Lake Wilderness Resort in central BC, Lodge/Cabins & Seadoo/ATV Rentals
Crystal Lake Resort is a remote summer fishing lodge near Vanderhoof BC, with exclusive private access to a pristine wilderness. Ideal for large gatherings, family reunions, corporate retreats, or big groups of outdoorsy people.
There's lots to do right on Crystal Lake including fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking/canoeing, tubing or waterskiing behind the Seadoo, playing games, reading books, or just lounging on the deck. There's a sports court with a basketball hoop and pickleball net. For the more adventurous you can hike or ATV down our extensive trail network to dozens of other lakes and remote cabins for more fun and bigger fish! The fishing boats and motors, pontoon boat, canoes and kayaks, water trampoline, and lifejackets are included in with the facilities. The Seadoo and ATVs and SXSs can be rented from us.
Crystal Lake can accommodate large events like weddings or birthday parties with a large outdoor event tent, tables and chairs available to rent as well.
Fishing is extremely popular amongst our guests. Crystal Lake and several lakes nearby are loaded with rainbow trout. They average just 12-14" and about 1 lb, but some trophy lakes have fish up to 24" and 5-7 lbs. Fishing here is very easy - they will bite just about anything - but Blue Fox or Panther Martin lures on light tackle is the best. There's fishing boats if you want to troll, but by far most people prefer to float around on the pontoon boat and cast. Or you can just catch them right from the dock.
The Lodge has many places to gather - the great room, the game room, the library, the dining room, the wrap around deck, and of course the kitchen. The kitchen is our fan favorite feature - absolutely amazing with lots of space, huge stove and a very fast commercial dishwasher. The kitchen has roll-up shutters to provide separation, or leave it open to the dining room for a more open engaged feel. There's also a BBQ and Traeger smoker on the deck and a firepit for roasting hotdogs or marshmellows.
The Lodge has one master bedroom with an ensuite on the main floor, and four large bedrooms upstairs. The two front bedrooms overlook the lake, while the two back bedrooms have ladders to lofts for the kids to play in. There's two full bathrooms upstairs - each shared between a front and back room. No pets in the lodge.
There's three cabins around the lodge that are pet friendly, the Crystal, Pine, and Spruce cabins. Crystal Cabin has 2 bedrooms and a large loft for more living area. The Spruce and Pine cabins are identical with a living room and two bedrooms - note that there's a bunk over the bed in each bedroom for extra space if needed. The cabins have electricity and a small kitchen, but no running water. There is a separate shower house for the cabins with a men's and women's side - each side has two showers, two stalls, and two sinks. Laundry facilities are also located in the shower house.
The wilderness location of the lodge means the facilities are off grid, with a generator, solar system, batteries and inverters - you need to be power conscious by not running too many things at once and we will provide recommendations so you don't have problems - and will walk you through the facilities so you know how to troubleshoot -but this will only happen if you ignore our recommendations.
We have unlimited Starlink internet, but no cell reception - we recommend setting up wi-fi calling on your phone before you arrive. Cell reception can be found at the "Phone Booth" about 2 kms back up the road.
Access to Crystal Lake from Vanderhoof has about 15 kms of pavement, 32 kms of publicly maintained gravel road, and 18 kms of privately maintained gravel road. The total trip from Vanderhoof will take about 1.5 hours. You can take a car up to the resort, but we don't recommend vehicles with very low clearance.
You will have the entire resort exclusively to yourselves. We can provide a guide on request for a fee. They can take you fishing or exploring our trails and other remote cabins. Guides stay at other facilities or remote cabins doing other work and travel to Crystal Lake on days you need them. You are welcome to stay in our other remote cabins on other lakes at no extra charge, but we may have other work projects there and they may not be available.
Crystal Lake is a magical place, you'll fall in love with it the moment you arrive - the peace and serenity, the beauty and comfort, the fun and adventure. There's something there for everyone to do, and you'll build unforgettable memories the entire time.
