Best place to stay if you’re skiing Willamette Pass. Charming lakeside cabins with docks for summer recreation.

I one was there when we checked in and our key with our name was left in a fully accessible “mail box” outside the office/store. The heater did not work inside the cabin and it was 40 degrees at night. We had to catch 12-14 black flies that were inside the cabin.

Simple cabin in the woods
This cabin was a nice spot for our stay in the area. We came to ski at Willamette Pass for a couple of days. There was still a lot of snow but the roads and paths were cleared nicely. The cabin itself was average for what it was. The beds weren’t comfortable and the main bedroom bed made a lot of noise. The couch and dining area was simple but comfortable though. The kitchen was also simple but it met our needs for cooking breakfast and supper for a family of 7. Though I know it’s hard to clean rough wood surfaces, the kitchen needed a good deep clean. There was food splatter on the wall and next to the stove. We loved having a fire pit right outside our windows and a beautiful dock on the lake. All-in-all, we would stay here again but I don’t think the price was worth what the cabin is. Maybe winter prices could be discounted because we don’t use any of the summer amenities.

The cabin was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. There was an ok pizza place connected to the check in office. Which we were glad for because there is not much else around the area to eat. They provided plenty of wood and kindling for the wood burning fireplace. It was super cozy. Bed was comfy. We will definitely go again.

Beautiful setting. Staff were wonderful! Cabin appeared “clean” (surfaces wiped down) but didn’t feel sanitized, and floors had only been swept enough to clean up visible surface debris. There’s a broom in the room, when I swept I filled the dustpan with dirt. Definitely not mopped, other than possibly pushing around a dirty swiffer pad on a dirty floor. The bathroom floor was a bit sticky and smelled like urine. Thankfully we brought extra shoes that we wore inside the entire time and our own towels, so we use their towels on the floor when taking a shower. The overall state was really fantastic. I brought my own cleaning wipes, so I was able to wipe everything down and wash dishes again before we use them.. Please note, I am admittedly more of a germ aware person than what most peeled seem to be these days. If using a seat cover at public bathrooms and paper towels to open the bathroom door when you leave, sounds like you, this information is directed at you. I am not convinced most people would be as observant. lol! For you, everything about your stay will likely be all 5 stars. I would definitely stay again and bring my own linens and cleaning wipes again. No regrets.

Shelter Cove is a wonderful resort. Great people, beautiful location, and they have a lot to offer. RV sites, cabins, boats to rent (motorized as well as kayaks, canoes), fishing, hiking, as well as a store with a wide range of items (fishing, food, trinkets, sweaters). It is at a higher elevation so the weather is a bit crisper. The area has beautiful rv sites in the trees and trails along the lake, and it is along the PCT. We rented a boat and stayed in a cabin. The cabins were located on the edge of the lake with a beautiful view. The cabins themselves were "rustic" and had a full (but small) kitchen with all the basics... which was handy as there were not a lot of food options close by beyond what the resort offered. The one we stayed in was for three people with a bunk bed and the cabin was quite small with the kitchen, bathroom, bed and counter all crammed in. There was not a table for all three to eat at, but a counter with two chairs. But as we did not spend much time there except to eat and sleep, it worked for us. Note the "rustic" part. It was not "shiny" inside, and the wood beds and chairs creaked ALOT. But that really was the only complaint. The cabin was otherwise cozy and warm (cool outside). No WIFI at the cabin, but the store had pretty good service available 24 hours. And there was dish tv and a dvd player, so we were not very unplugged. Verizon had some service, Metro PCS none. It was also very dog friendly. Overall, a great experience!

Website and welcome email states restaurant available, however it's closed. Occupant is responsible for cleaning dishes and emptying trash cans, however this was not stated prior to check-in. Several dishes/utensils were dirty. The coffee maker was dirty. Use at own risk. Rodents were busy at night between ceiling and roof.

Wish we were more prepared.
We stayed here overnight on our road trip. I specifically chose Shelter Cove because it seemed like a perfect mix of nature/camping along with having food amenities on site. Because we were on a road trip, we did not have food packed, and were a bit disappointed with the lack of options at the general store, and the hours of the restaurant on site. Fortunately, we checked in on time to grab dinner, but when we left at 9am, the restaurant still was not open - we had planned to have breakfast and coffee before taking off. We were told breakfast opened at 7am, and unfortunately there is nothing near the resort to pick up. The cabin is so cute, the views were amazing, and we absolutely would have loved this stay if we were more prepared, but I felt that the website, and hotels.com web descriptions were inaccurate and so we didn’t know that we needed to prepare more for the one night stay. My advice to anyone doing a stopover - Bring food to cook, and you’ll probably love this place.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shelter Cove in cabin C. We had a comfortable cabin with great, soft bedding and hot shower. All the amenities of home and a beautiful lake view! It was snowing but pathways cleared and they always had a roaring fire at central fire pit. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Joshua was especially helpful and fixed the TV that we’re surprised to even have in our cabin! The store was stocked with lots of miscellaneous items in case you forgot to pack something. Lots of food, snack and beverage choices along with souvenirs. They seem to be open all seasons but the restaurant was not yet open so we didn’t get to eat there. We loved it here, stayed 5 days!

The views were amazing. You can’t beat a snow coveted lake front. The staff were, without exception friendly and helpful. It was unfortunate that the heat in the cabin was not properly functioning. Brrrr 57 degrees inside when the very nice facilities man came and swiped us the voodoo it takes to turn the heat on. It went off again in the night. The grounds were plowed repeatedly while we were there allowing easy access up and down the 2 mile access road and around the property even as more snow fell. I would return in a heartbeat. The access to winter fun at Willamette Pass and Gold Lake Snow Park can not be beat.
