Simple luxury awaits you in this lakeside retreat with a rustic modern feel. No detail was spared in outfitting this space, all with breathtaking lake views from nearly every window. The double slip dock is steps away, complete with SUPs, kayaks, a lily pad for swimming...even a lift for your boat! Perfectly located within a gated, private development with access to the hilltop community pool and clubhouse. Free dock delivery with pontoon rental partner and private Level 2 EV charger as well.
Hillside Hideaway is situated just inside the protected cove from the namesake point within Point William, a private 22-acre community comprised of 16 unique homes designed to blend perfectly with the land's natural surroundings. Our home is located in the perfect spot, with big water views yet the offered protection of the cove for those on the dock or swimming in the deep, clear water.
The steps to the house descend between two massive boulders to the front door. The custom craftsmanship and attention to detail are immediately evident upon entering, as are the designer furnishings and decor. From the spacious living area, the double doors invite you to take in the incredible view from the covered porch. Next to the kitchen and living area, the keeping room is perhaps the most stunning room in the house, with two walls of windows to take in the lake on one side and the hillside on the other. The kitchen is also walled in counter to ceiling windows, as well as beautiful concrete countertops, a full-size freezer in addition to the refrigerator, and a separate ice maker in the butler's pantry. This floor, as well as the master suite, feature a Sonos audio system and support mobile Sonos speakers as well.
The upper level has two guest rooms, each with a queen bed, with views that make you feel like you're on top of the water! There is also a full bathroom on this level with plenty of shelf space and a huge shower (both showers in the house have Kohler shower heads with wands to make it easier to bathe kiddos). From this level, the adventurous ones in your party can climb the ladder access for the finished loft, which has four built-in twin beds and a couple of bean bags. There is a removable ladder guard to keep little ones from ascending the ladder.
The secluded lower level is where you'll find the master suite, with a gorgeous king bed and private access to the lower deck overlooking the lake. The master bath has a full-size tub and large walk-in shower. The washer and dryer are also found on this level, as well as access to the lower outdoor living area, complete with adjoining fireplace.
The lower deck, illuminated at night by string lights, has a large table for outdoor dining, a gas grill, a swing and an outdoor shower for summer nights. The walkway to the private dock, also illuminated with an assortment of lighting options and nearly level with the lower deck during summer months, leads to the double slip dock with lots of water toys, a Solo Stove fire pit, a Hydrohoist boat lift, shaded seating area, and a bunch of Adirondack chairs in the sun. From here you'll be able to hear the multiple waterfalls across the cove after rains and see some of the brightest stars in the South at night!

A few things to note:
For those unfamiliar with Smith Lake, please understand that the lake is located in a rural and somewhat remote area of Alabama; the same qualities that make it so serene and peaceful also lead to it having a bit of an "out there" feel. The roads coming in, especially the last mile drive down the hill to our community's gate, are narrow, twisty and most lack stripes. Once inside our gate, the road is a paved one-way loop that's a bit steep and curvy but completely navigable with a 2-wheel drive (unlike some areas of the lake). There aren't street lights here, although we did install landscape lighting to illuminate the pathway and house after dark. The terrain at Point William, like much of Smith Lake, is rugged and steep; our houses here were uniquely positioned at the bottom of the slope right on the water, unlike many homes on the lake on top of bluffs with long walks down to the water. With that said, there are 25 steps from our parking pad to our front door; as mentioned, they are lit and we have handrails along most. You will find that AT&T works wonderfully here, but any other carrier doesn't work once you come down the hill from the pool and clubhouse. The home does offer wifi (via 300 mbps fiber optic), so we suggest guests utilize wifi calling when needed. We do have three outdoor cameras, all motion-detected and provide on-demand viewing by us (Ring system). They view the dock, the front door area, and the parking pad (all outdoor).
