Matt runs one of the coolest B&Bs in the world, and I say that with over 40 countries of travel experience. His story of building this wonderful place, his hospitality to share it with the world, and the natural beauty of the Daintree Rainforest surrounding it all makes for a thoroughly enjoyable jungle stay. The exotic fruit breakfasts and fun recommendations for things to do by Matt (for those who want more than just to luxuriate in his B&B) made the stay a very special experience for my wife and me.
This place has beautiful surroundings and made me feel relaxed the moment walk-in. It is close to the Daintree Discovery Center and was a good base for exploring the Daintree and Cape Tribulation area. The host Matt knows everything in the area and made helpful itinerary suggestions. Would highly recommend this place.
Matt’s place is unreal - beautifully nesteld within the daintree rainforest ! We stayed in the cottage just 50 m from the main house and absolutely loved it. Saw a cassowary walk through the property and enjoy the fruit trees. The breakfast is delicious with all the different fruits and we enjoyed spending time with Matt and his friends over a glass of wine.
Thank you so much for having us :) we will be back !
This is a good place to stay to visit the Daintree Forest and Cape Tribulation. This part of Australia is off the grid and lightly populated. Being in the tropics,, it has a rainy season so be aware it can rain a lot during the Australian summer with few people visiting during that time. We had 3 days of sun so we were able to take advantage of the rainforest discover center and board walks without rain as well as empty beaches. Also be aware that this is crocoodile country so you can not go into the water at all except for two swimming holes in rivers.
Beautiful place to stay. Amazing hospitality. Breakfast of fresh tropical fruits from the orchard was a bonus. As was relaxing in a hammock at the end of a busy day. Highly recommend.
What a wonderful surprise this accommodation was - stunning setting and generous host with his time, knowledge of the area and making sure we were comfortable and had all that we needed. Highly recommend this place
If you want an authentic rain forest experience where you truly feel you are living in the jungle, this is your place. If you are okay with slighly rustic, off the grid, etc., you couldn't ask for a better experience. The owner, Matt, is incredibly knowledgeable about the Daintree area and the best ways to visit it.
This is a unique property, in the rainforest. The area doesn’t have mains power so don’t expect aircon. There are plenty of fans though, and the shared areas of the house are open to the lovely tropical breezes. Bedrooms can either be open to the breeze or made as private as you choose. Matt prepares a very generous tropical fruit breakfast, and is friendly but professional and so knowledgable about the area. Good shower, great to be able to access kitchen facilities and lovely to have space to chat and hang out with other guests if you want to. No reflection on Matt or the property, but you need to expect that it can get very hot and humid here. After all, it’s the Wet Tropics!
From Matthew who was an encyclopedia of knowledge to the beautiful setting where we were fortunate enough to see a cassowary, we could not have chosen a better place to experience the Daintree Rainforest. I can’t say enough about the hospitality and the efforts to ensure that the Epiphyte is in harmony with nature. Absolutely fantastic stay!
Our stay here was just lovely, Trish was very welcoming and explained everything there was to know avout the Daintree and thing to here and places to visit. It's a great place to go if you want to get off the grid and just enjoy nature and the lovely rainforest. We were upgraded on arrival to a room with a bed outside so we could really experience the wildlife. Breakfast was amazing too! A lovely selection of unusual fruit grown in their garden and homemade jams. Would definitely stay here again :)
My husband and I had a wonderful stay for 2 nights. We were upgraded to the superior room since we were the only guests and our hosts we amazingly friendly and informative on the area. The room/bathroom/porch were comfortable and we had everything we needed and was private. The fruits and jams for breakfast were great and they even packed a fruit plate for our early morning bird watching boat trip. It was convenient to the area we wanted to cover our few days in Daintree. The view and grounds were beautiful and quiet. Note they are very Eco-conscience (which is great)- conservative/responsible water and resource use which is also requested of guests.
Wonderful place and so close to many hikes and activities in tbe Daintree. The hosts were amazing and super friendly...couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. HIGHLY recommended!

Down Home Stay
The hospitality was nice- always felt like a family meal sitting around the table with great people and beautiful views of the mountain in the middle of the rainforest. I was a little surprised there was no air conditioning on the property but appreciated the off grid , sustainability. If you’re wanting a more inner journey solitude experience you may want to book the private cottages as the rooms in the main house are close together with very thin walls and one can hear the activities in the kitchen/living areas. I had a good experience all in all.
