This is the perfect spot to view BOTH of the eclipses! We are fortunate to be involved in both of these rare events. People do not realize how rare it is to have BOTH eclipses crossing right over us here in the Texas hill country! This property is so close to the center line of viewing for both events that we are considered a PRIME LOCATION.
The “Ring of Fire” Annular Eclipse happening on October 14th will be the last one in the US until 2039.
Although there is some kind of solar eclipse every 6 months, RARELY DO THE PATHS OF TWO CENTRAL ECLIPSES OVERLAP.
Exactly 177 days after the annular solar eclipse on October 24th, a TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE will cross this property as well On April 8, 2024. There will not be another total solar eclipse visible in the US until 2044.

Weekend Getaway
Property was nice! Check in was easy . Only thing that caught me off guard was the distance to the river . You could classify it as water front however you won't sit on the porch and look at the water it is about a 3min hike . Pretty walk on the way down there.

Awesome experience
The stay at the Rio Frio cabins was an awesome trip for two of our young grandsons and us. The boys had everything they needed, including some they didn't (wifi works well), and we had enough of the necessary comforts of home to make the trip more than enjoyable. The 2 bedroom cabin had a small well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds in amply sized separate rooms, a covered porch for conversing, BBQ pit, picnic table and a large fire pit area. The cabin is only a short walk from the river down some wooded trails where there is a lot of wildlife. The boys liked the trails as much as anything. The water was shallow enough in this area (at this time) that the 4 year old was able to negotiate the river and explore. My only complaint is that there was a lot of algae growth in the water, which can be caused by a lot of things, including the beautifully green St Augustine lawns across the river (in a hot and dry climate). The algae just tarnished that pristine beauty that we have become accustomed to on the many past years trips to The Frio. The weather was wonderful, the area is scenic, the cabins are really nice and we were able to spend valuable quality time with our #1 and #2 grandsons. The boys make the 6th generation to come to enjoy the natural beauty of the Frio Canyon area. We will return and hopefully to these cabins.

Great getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at this charming cabin. The kitchen was well stocked and all the surfaces were clean. There was a big storm that passed through on our first night and we were left without power. Thankfully, Veronica checked in on us. This was much appreciated since we also had no signals for our cell phones out there. We also appreciated the awesome coffee machine and used it everyday :)
