The property is situated in a semi-rural position although only a 5 minute drive from Cisternino town centre. The property is approached via a long private drive from the road between two houses and the house itself sits on a 2 acre rectangular plot, it is located to the far corner of the rectangular plot. The surrounding land is mainly Olive trees and other fruit trees. The driveway is lined with pink Oleander bushes which leads directly to the house, where there is an area suitable for parking 2 or 3 cars
The house itself is a stone farmhouse which we bought about 19 years ago and have only rented out for the last few years and even then only for a few weeks as we or our family use it during the summer. When we bought the house half of the house had been refurbished and we then refurbished the left hand side and put in the pool. There is a large paved area between the house and the swimming pool and a gazebo and seating area under shade There is a "lamia" ( storage building ) facing the house where we have an additional fridge and to store your suitcases and also the cushions etc for the pool area.
In the right hand side of the house is the main kitchen on the first floor with a gas oven and breakfast area , a first floor lounge, one first floor double bedroom with a new refurbished (2020 ) shower room en suite and a ground floor smaller double bedroom with another en suite shower room and a dressing room. NEW FOR 2024 -WIFI !
By closing a door this part of the house could be used by 1 family ( or couple ) and another family ( or couple ) could use the left hand side ( all on ground floor level ) On the left hand side of the house is the main lounge where there is a small breakfast work area with 2 fridges, toaster, ice-maker, coffee machine, cutlery and plates and shelves for food supplies. This makes it easier to eat outside and carry out plates etc to the outside dining area.
Outside under the gazebo there is an outside kitchen area suitable for preparing light meals there is a sink but cold water supply only. A 4 ring gas hob which we use all the time - we bring out kitchen equipment from the living room to enjoy outdoor cooking.
There is outside lighting around the surround and pool and in the gazebo area. We never really use the first floor kitchen save for the oven and then we bring the food outside
We think the house is suitable for 6 people maximum. Due to different levels of floors inside and outside the house please take extra care of small children.
There are hairdyers, an electric fan in each room,a washing machine, gas central heating ( we have never used it !) There is no air - con.

LOCATION
Three is the magic number, so they say, and nowhere is this truer than in the Valle d'Itria with its trio of enchanting, historic towns: Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Cisternino.
Like its sisters, Cisternino, boasts a small, utterly charming old town centre that has remained virtually intact for centuries. Its whitewashed houses, narrow, shady streets, historic churches and elegant central piazza open out onto a series of panoramic view points from which visitors can take in the surrounding countryside, with its rolling hills, dry stone walls and white-tipped conical trulli roofs piercing the green fields.
There is a great choice of restaurants and it is literally a 5 minute car ride to a free car park and a short ( but steep) walk up into town.It is absolutely charming. Within a very short car journey are also fantastic places to visit in the evening for food including Martina Franca, Ceglia Messapica, Locoratondo and Ostuni
The streets of Cisternino are home to some buildings of considerable architectural interest, including the 13th century Norman-Swabian tower, topped with a little statue of San Nicola, the 14th century Church of San Nicola with its 18th century facade and 6th century foundations, the curvaceous baroque Church of San Cataldo and tower-flanked Palazzo Amati.
In August, Cisternino celebrates the summer with a series of festivals, including the processions for the Festa di San Quirico, one of the town's patron saints, and a couple of food festivals, or sagre, one dedicated to orecchiette (Puglia's signature ear-shaped pasta), the other to rabbit! Then in September, the town turns its attention to the grape harvest, which is toasted with yet another party!
One of our other great assets is Pietro who looks after our house for us - he will meet n greet and offer you local knowledge beyond belief ! He was born in Cisternino speaks perfect English and we have known him since we purchased the house- He is on hand to resolve any issue you may have...................................
