We absolutely loved our stay. The place just felt so comfortable and homey. The staff was extremely nice, accommodating and willing to help. We would highly recommend staying here and experiencing a lovely stay with a fireplace that makes it a 10/10 stay.
You press a button in your room and someone comes and lights the open fire for you! This hotel is a piece of history in the centre of mayan culture, and it is also a luxury hotel. I can't recommend it highly enough.
This was a much researched and planned trip. Having seen promotional info about the Mayan inn online with staff in traditional gear , we were full of anticipation. The info in the Inn itself suggested guests take a drink in the fire lit cosy bar. It gets cold at night in the highlands and after a day exploring the market, that would have been welcome.
The Inn hasn’t changed much since the 1930s although it does have WiFi in public areas not in bedrooms. Bedroom was dark and tired.
Staff were friendly enough but not in traditional wear.
Breakfast , if included, is carefully rationed out and one needs to ask for butter or more coffee.
The enticing bar had no fire for the 3 nights there , so we sat in coats. The bar opening times are limited- some nights it shut at 8 pm.
We paid extra for a Mountain View: the hills were invisible because of trees right next to the window.
This is an old hotel with quirky items and some interesting paintings but…… it’s ok for two nights if passing through. It is a few meters from the market and famous churches so well positioned. We stayed for 3 nights and felt it lacked guest comfort zones.
Its a mix. The room was fantastic. The front desk great. The bartender scary. The toilet didnt flush in 3 days. Water was too cold to take a shower one day
Loved our room and thought we had gotten an upgraded and later learned that ll rooms have a fireplace. Great location- steps away from the cemetery, Santo Thomas Church and of course the market. It is a colonial style (older hotel). The linens and towels were of nice quality.
Hola está excelente el hotel y muy bueno su servicio. Solo como comentario sería bueno que no cobrarán el internet en los cuartos!!! De ahí es la mejor opción en Chichicastenango
A unique Inn with lots of history. The staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming. The rooms were historic and the fireplace was very welcome for cold nights.
Beautiful spot to stay. Great location to markets and cemetery up the road.
Fluffy pancakes for breakfast highly recommended.
Staff were lovely and attentive.
This hotel is very low on the frills but makes up for it with rustic features and Hugh-quality service. The hotel is also a museum and a bird sanctuary. Some of the birds talk- trying saying “Hola” to them.
Tomas was great. He was our room attendant and waiter. The reception staff was also very welcoming.
This hotel was great for exploring the huge Sunday market. We dropped our bags and found ourselves right on the edge of the market.
The food in the restaurant was a little cold- we had the soup and pasta. That was the only not-so-good point.
The property was stunningly beautiful and ALL the staff were just fantastic! The hotel is just one block from the main plaza and I couldn't have been happier! Thank you!
