About this property

Romantic Rustic Roost in Woodland Paradise

Only 40 minutes from the State Capitol, but delightfully secluded, the Rustic Roost is a converted cellarhouse transformed into a charming Glamping suite, located on a gorgeous 100 acre forest farm. Features include a queen size bed, kitchenette, private deck and grilling area, fire pit, and a rather adorable "hillbilly en-suite" private bathroom. The property touts pristine mountain woodlands, fishing pond, myriad streams and creeks, and a magical waterfall grotto begging to be explored!
The space
Best described as a Nature lover's paradise, our 100 acre slice of paradise is set around an active, sustainable forest farm. Spend the day exploring the trails and watercourse, fish at the pond, get in some campfire time, or just lounge and relax, surrounded by nature and the sound of birdsong. Your host is very familiar with the local flora and fauna, and you can also learn about subjects such as sustsinable agriculture and Wild Forage.
Guest access
Guests have access to all 100 acres as well as some adjoining woodland trail areas, which includes private deck with grilling area, fire pit with hammocks, fishing pond, creek and streams, and the gem of the holler, the magical Waterfall Grotto. Nearby access to the Poca River as well for kayakers and fishing, and the Elk River area is only a 30 minute scenic drive away! Property is accessible without the need for a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
Other things to note
Though we clean and check the space constantly, please note this area is considered "The Woods". Guests should be aware that Nature and her critters rule the roost here, and prepare accordingly. Bring footwear that can get wet for optimal exploration. Always check for ticks!.
There's a private patio. A kitchenette is outfitted with a refrigerator, a stovetop, and a microwave. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. The bathroom has a shower and a hair dryer.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as a living plant wall and barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

A night of memories
My wife and I stayed a night on our way through WV to Kentucky, had an awesome time! The host was super helpful with any questions and with anything needed, he had the charcoal grill ready to be used and a fire pit ready to go. He even was a great help mailing my wife’s kindle home after it accidentally got left behind. The trail to the falls was fun to adventure through, the dogs came along as tour guides and even showed you the best way to go! If you’re looking for a secluded, cozy, nature filled camping get away this is the spot for you!! 10/10 would stay there again!

Way off the beaten path
Wasn't quite what we expected. It is way out there away from anything. We were unable to walk around the property due to not having the right shoes. If you are looking for real mountain experience it may be for you but it was a little more than we thought.

Everything but the TV (Great!)
Wonderful cabin, excellent trails to a beautiful grotto and tower. Owner’s pets are outrageous!! Bring a few dog bone rewards- they really earn them. Will go again in snow then spring.

The love for nature
Beautiful property with all the perks of nature. Stay more than one day and really take it in. Plenty of privacy even with other guests on the same property. Simple but everything you need, with extremely gracious hosts. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Would go out of my way to stay there again.
