The Ship inn, Tresaith, Cardigan, SA43 2JL Dates 27th – 29th Feb 2024.
We rarely provide any reviews or feedback, but after our stay we felt it necessary to let you know that we were not happy with our stay.
• On arrival there was limited parking and one night we had to park on the road that had signs saying NO parking. The staff said that was fine out of season!
• The first night we went down to dinner early at 16.45 to take advantage of the special offer. If ordered before 5pm the Lunch & Early evening set menu was 2 courses for £14.50, however the waiter advised this was not on offer OUT OF SEASON!
• ROOM – the shower leaked and needed a towel to be used on the floor by the hand basin. We reported this and was told we would have extra towels for the wet floor, but none arrived. Also, the en-suite room & ceiling looked dirty with mildew on the ceiling and dirt around the base of the shower screen (we have photos if needed).
• BREAKFAST –Sarah was brilliant at breakfast and as soon as she knew we wanted oat milk she provided some herself the next day for us. However, she apologised as we asked for fruit for breakfast and we were told ‘this is no longer available’ despite it being shown on the menu!
Sarah could not have been more helpful and is an asset to Ship Inn. We had more issues with our evening meal on the 2nd night. Too much to detail here, but have contacted Marstons directly. Suffice to say DON'T EXPECT A DRINK after 9.30pm, Resident or not! DISAPPOINTING VENUE
0ur stay at the Ship Inn was excellent, staff were excellent, food was very good with a good selection of dishes. Bedroom was very comfortable, clean and great amenities. I would stay there again, really enjoyed its location, the beautiful views.
Only negative was due to our stay being in February, out of season, the bar was shut at 9.30pm on a Friday night due to being very quiet. I personally think regardless of trade if you are residing in the Ship Inn that the bar should be available for usual open hours for hotel guests. After all you are paying to stay in a place that advertises the bar as a selling point and to be expected to be back in your room for 9.30 as the facilities have shut is not what you'd expect when booking to stay above a bar.
The rooms all have lovely sea views. Ours was comfortable and clean. The meals downstairs were excellent. The staff were very friendly, and the place seems well-run by Hayley the manager.
Location fantastic looking onto the beach, upgraded to a balcony room sea facing. Service & food excellency good choice on the menu, would definitely stay again.
This is an amazing place to stay if your in this part Wales

Perfectly placed hotel with a great view. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is looking very tired and could really do with a revamp as the prices do not reflect the surroundings within the hotel. Room was very clean but as mentioned it does need some money spending on it.
Right on Tresaith beach. We slept with the window open and heard the oven all night. It was incredible.

Much needed break away…..
Lovely location and splendid view from the “Waterfall” room. Room itself is basic, but the shower is good, bed comfy and tea/coffee supplied. Our stay was quite noisy in the evenings, but we have to accept that this is a pub. However, we were woken up to extremely loud music at 5.30 am one morning which persisted until we were able to get hold of the duty manager to enquire what was going on. Food in the restaurant was uninspiring and mediocre at best….Nevertheless, great spot for walking the Coast path and in a prime location for doing just that!
Lovely comfortable, clean room with e suite. Overlooking the beach and sea. Seating area to enjoy the view.
Friendly, helpful staff. Dined with friends in the evening, hearty, tasty food. Warm, cosy inner dining rooms and others in the conservatory overlooking the bay lit with candles and lights.
