Elephant Mountain Cabin at Filoha Meadows

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

Leave the hustle and bustle of daily life behind, and surround yourself with serene meadows, bubbling hot springs, and firefly-filled nights when you book your stay at this Redstone escape for four. Spend your days fishing and kayaking, and your nights star gazing and unwinding.

Set three miles north from the heart of Redstone and 13 miles south of Carbondale, you'll be close to dining and local attractions while being nestled in the beauty of Mother Nature. Be sure to stock up on groceries and fuel in Carbondale on your way to the property. During the winter months, we recommend using a vehicle with 4x4 to access the home safely.

The beauty of this property caught the eye of Disney and hosted sites seen in the movie 'Tall Tales,' and this home is perfect for travelers looking for a small slice of a peaceful paradise. Featuring a classic cabin ambiance, you'll have all the basics that you need for a relaxing stay.

Step out on the deck with an ice-cold brew or two and take in the tree-lined views. Snap a few pictures, then connect to the WiFi to send them to your friends back home. Throw a steak and a few veggies on the gas BBQ to grill up a delicious meal, or head inside to put the cozy kitchenette to use. Featuring a full-size refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker (no stove/oven or dishwasher), you'll have the essentials to whip up a tasty dish.

After dinner, revel in the natural warmth of the shared hot springs just a few steps away from your cabin. This cabin, along with the few others on this property, have the use of two tiled tubs along the river that are filled with natural hot spring water. Sip a cocktail on the deck and watch the fireflies come out to dance with the stars.

As the day winds down and it's time to turn in, this single-bedroom, one-bathroom home can sleep up to four people. In the bedroom, you'll find a queen bed and plenty of storage, while in the main living area there is a fold-out futon for more sleeping options.

Outdoor enthusiasts will adore being so close to nature. Preserving the environment is so important in the area not even dead trees are allowed to be moved to ensure the ecosystem and wildlife remain as unaffected by humans as possible. Grab your fishing gear or your kayak and head to the private stretch of the Crystal River. Paddle along the banks, or head over to the Filoha Meadows Open Space that is just across the river from this property. Open to the public from July through September, you'll be able to observe elk, deer, and an abundance of wildlife. Spend the day at The Roaring Fork Conservancy for one of their nature-inspired walks or teaching sessions. During the winter months, you'll be able to explore the area while you delve into some backcountry and Nordic skiing.

Stay stress-free in the embrace of wildflowers and bubbling hot spring when you plan your escape to this Colorado getaway.

The Cabins at Filoha Meadows are comprised of four cabins, including this one and Three Sisters Peak Cabin and Mt. Sopris Cabin.

A healing retreat in the mountains next to Crystal River
My son and I enjoyed staying next to the Crystal River and beautiful mountains, and soaking in the hot springs! Our accommodations were clean and kitchen had everything we needed. The manager was caring and very helpful. We will definitely be returning to this sweet mountain retreat!

Location, Location, Location!
The only negative thing that I could possibly say about the place is that the sleeping accommodations were not the best. It was me and my two adult children, so we had to bring a blow up mattress and futons are never comfortable! Other than that, the location was AMAZING!

Beautiful cabin on river
We have traveled many times to CO. This was our favorite stay ever! The cabin is perfect. Everything was clean and new and nice but we hardly spent anytime inside because the outside area was unreal. The view from the deck was gorgeous we had drinks and played cards and enjoyed nature. Hands down the best part of this place is the private hot spring hot tub literally on the river! It is shared with other cabins but there are two tubs and we never saw anyone else there. If you like to fish bring a pole the river is right there and perfect to walk up and down and fly fish. We will definitely be going back and staying longer. Only negative was we tried to extend but they were already booked lol! Highly recommend!

Far from the madding crowd
Close to Carbondale and far from Aspen. Yet close to aspens and trails that get even closer. Among their white trunks on the Huntsman Ridge trail are pines decorated with the yellow aspen leaves. Upon return from the steep steep trail sore legs are salved by the 109 degree hot water by the rushing Crystal River. Across the river one sees the forbidden Fiola Meadows and maroon hills, far from the bells. A pine marten visits the cabin deck but Mike says watch out for sharp claws and teeth.

Great Location
Mike is the man! Our place wasn't ready/cleaned when we showed up but Mike did everything he could to make sure we were taken care of and got housekeeping there asap. The location is the reason you go anyway. Don't expect some fancy accommodations, this is pretty humble. But private hot springs and endless views is why we were there. Could have lived on that deck.

Enjoyed our stay
We loved our stay. I knew there wouldn't be cell coverage because of a different review, but I wish I'd known wifi was limited. We were able to check email and search online etc., but were asked not to stream movies. We had been planning to stream church, so that part was disappointing. But the area was beautiful, and the accommodations lovely.

Beautiful property
We enjoyed our stay at this property. The cabin had everything we needed and the hot spring pools were wonderful after a long day of hiking. Mike was very helpful and provided information about the area whenever we asked. The only thing that kept this cabin from being perfect was the bed. The mattress was not good and sagged in the middle.

This is our second time at this property and we just love it here. The cabin ground is so peaceful. This place is a wonderful location to escape to when you want to “check out” of the busy world for a few days. I highly reccomend this VRBO

Wonderful property
This is 1 of 4 charming rentals on a very large and otherwise secluded property. While close to the (very lightly trafficked) road, it's a very peaceful and quiet getaway. The surrounding area (especially south) is breathtaking. The property manager here is a very kind man who knows a ton about the property, local wildlife, etc. The hot tubs onsite are great, especially the smaller one down by the river. The property is managed by a third party called Vacasa, so you will get all of your arrival instructions (including your access code for the key) from them, not from VRBO. Make sure you have this email information printed or otherwise saved, as you will not have signal anywhere near the property. Overall a great stay, I hope to visit again very soon.

The place is a total rip-off. They marketed one cabin to me and then assigned me to a smaller cabin
Do not rent from this place. Three unrelated men needed a place to stay. When we searched, only the large cabins, that would have accommodated us, came up in the search results. However, when we signed the contract, it was for the smaller cabin that had only one bed and terrible futon. While I am fairly confident that by the letter of the law, they did nothing wring, I have never had such an issue previously and I have rented numerous cabins in Colorado. On a side note: The third guy had to sleep in the floor. It's interesting that when I searched for the same cabin, using the same search results, the smaller cabins are now the only cabins that come up. (This was after I complained). However, there has been zero effort from the rental company to resolve this issue. The place also lacks the seclusion that I am sure everyone is looking for. We had to share a deck with another couple we never met. We also had to wait our turn to use the hot tub as other families were using it and there wasn't enough room for everyone. This wasn't something the site hid from us while searching, but it is something future renters should really consider. I have attempted to work through these issues with the rental company, but clearly have no interest in resolving anything. With so many wonderful cabins we have rented in the area oreviously, there are tons of great options that will make your stay wonderful. The only nice thing I can say, it the river next to the cabin was nice. However, with lots of river options, it isn't that much of a selling point.

Gorgeous views, quiet and tranquil, right smack dab in the middle of Aspen and Glenwood Springs
We absolutely loved this clean, quaint little cabin close to the river enough to hear it. We loved waking up to the mountain views and ending the night listening to the elk bugle and the coyotes chatter back and forth. The hot tub by the river was our favorite and the night stars are so clear. The Fall colors are so vivid and the weather was perfect while we were there. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need as far as appliances and dishes. There is no stove or oven but they do have an electric stove top and a toaster oven. There is also a blender, microwave, toaster and pots and pans and silverware and salt and pepper. We were extremely happy with our stay and would recommend it to everyone.

Hidden gem
We had a really wonderful weekend up at the cabin. It is a spectacular area with access to multiple different hot springs-fed tubs. The one in the Greenhouse is especially wonderful. Great fly fishing on the river just steps away from the cabin. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars was the cabin itself is quite bare-bones. (Which, perhaps I should have seen looking at other reviews). The kitchen itself is equipped with just a 2-burner hot plate, microwave, and a toaster oven. If you're planning on doing any serious cooking, you might want to bring up some of your own kitchen wares. Other than that, everything was fantastic.

Beautiful views
This property was amazing. It was very nice being able to go down to the river and relax and catch some fish. There was no AC, but that wasn't a problem at night as we would just open the windows and turn on the fan provided. Kitchen is fully stocked and we cooked some very good dinners here! Would most definitely stay again. We hated to leave this beautiful place.

Property was unbelievably amazing and beautiful....Rocky Mountain High in Colorado.....
We loved the property and the hot springs tubs were wonderful. The hiking was out the back door and we felt totally blessed to be able to spend the weekend there. It was conveniently close to groceries and the highway to Aspen, but seemed like a lifetime away while we were on the property. The mattress in the bedroom wasn't too comfortable.....but we slept well anyway. The pictures on the website are beautiful......but the breathtaking surroundings kept me pinching myself all weekend wondering if I was really in such a beautiful place. Will come back for sure......we missed the fall colors by a couple of weeks......gonna plan for a trip in mid-Sept for next year for sure.
