Loved this oasis in the chaotic downtown of Cape Town. Amazing rooftop bar and hip small bar downstairs. Servers were attentive and polite as well.

This is a hotel with verve, boasting a style all its own. Ever so slightly (and enjoyably) steampunk. Spacious and comfortable rooms, professional and friendly staff. We lived the upstairs lounge and restaurant. Outside deck and plunge pool would be a plus in a slightly warmer season. Gorgeous George would be a great pick for most anybody, and is a refreshing alternative to stodgier luxury properties nearby.

Honeymoon at George
We spent 4 nights during our honeymoon at Gorgeous George. We had the most amazing stay. The location is central, right in the CBD. The rooms were clean, well equipped and extremely comfortable. Gigis restaurant was incredible on the top floor! They had amazing coffee, drinks, and mouthwatering food! Don’t miss their daily complementary a-la-carte breakfast! The hotel had such quirky, yet mindblowing decor! Will gladly come back

Really cool art-focused boutique hotel in the center of downtown. Area is a little edgy and getting in/out via car can be tricky but the staff is skilled and capable at assisting when you need it. We walked from hotel to the garden district along the park -- could have also done the walk to the waterfront easily. Food was really good - we had one dinner and a breakfast at the hotel. And drink program / cocktails were excellent. Just what you'd expect from an urban boutique hotel. Did not disappoint.

Second time staying here and it was just as great as the first time. As before, everyone was super welcoming and helpful and the room was fantastic. The restaurant too! It is well located with an interesting market nearby and an easy Uber/cab ride to the waterfront and other places. Thoroughly recommended - and I hope to visit again in the future!

The hotel is fantastic - great decor visually in all the spaces, but also well thought out, and the room was really well done too, with lots of extras and plenty of space. Powerful shower and extremely comfortable bed! The restaurant is amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner and on top of it all there is a venue downstairs with occasional events. When I was there there was a great gig that felt very special - I was very glad to have stumbled on that (I should add that this finished at a reasonable time and I didn't notice it being disturbing from the room). Above all, the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, welcoming and patient - organising cars for onward trips and transfers and with general advice. I went out in the immediate area in the day and felt safe, although I was warned about being sensible and careful with belongings at various times which made me a little extra cautious (this seems to be the case in Cape Town and other cities generally, not specific to the area immediately around the hotel, although if I'd gone out at night I would have taken a car rather than walking). Geographically, the location is good though, with a market nearby and a few museums - and it's very easy to take a car to various other sites.

Trendy, centrally located, and very clean! Staff was great, except the restaurant staff was quite slow. The walls were thin so I could hear others coming and going from their rooms, noise from outside, and the music from the first floor venue. They did provide earplugs, so clearly they’re aware this is ann issue. Overall excellent, would stay again!
