So, I'm unable to review the actual cottage as on paying the balance via Vrbo I was emailed by the owner to say 'there was an issue with Vrbo and his booking system' which meant he had double booked. But we could stay in the main house for an extra R5000, or get a refund. As this was peak season we were left with no alternative but to accept the additional cost.
Given the cottage is billed as 5* we expected more from the main house given the extra cost (which we didn't pay in the end) The house and whole premises are very tired which is a crying shame.
Towels are threadbare (looks like the ones on order as mentioned in a previous review have yet to arrive), bed sheets old and one pillow case had holes in it, hot tub looks like a health hazard and was covered with dirty bubble wrap, off-cut carpets cover the high-use areas in the bedrooms (buy a rug!), TV's weren't tuned, weird coloured soaps in random old plastic bottles with the labels washed off were provided as toiletries (no idea what the were or what they were for), matching blue pool towles (as shown on the photos) were nowhere to be seen, rather random threadbare beach towels were provided (they looked like they'd been left by previous guests) I could go on and I have photos to support everything I've stated above.
The owner checked us in and then we never saw him again for three days.
In short, it's not what you see in the pictures or read in the reviews.
