The Space:
Please note that this home is older, and has a lot of character that makes this unique. Please embrace the beauty of imperfections as you wander through the well-loved spaces of our older home. The patina on the fixtures, the creak of the stairs, and the occasional uneven floorboard all add to the unique atmosphere that only time can provide.

Feel the history of the area in every corner of our home. We've preserved the original architecture and design elements that tell stories of the past, creating a truly immersive experience for those who appreciate the authenticity of older homes.

Please note that, due to the age of the home, there might be minor quirks or maintenance considerations. Living on the coast also provides unique challenges, as we're constantly exposed to the harsh weather storms when they come. Our dedicated team ensures that everything is in working order, but do let us know if you encounter any issues during your stay.

Guest Access
Guest will be given access to all spaces except for the basement, and the shed. We ask that folks stay away from the shed, as this is currently in the plans for a renovation. We ask that folks only use the side of the deck, and staircase that is nearest to the driveway and our front door.
Other details to note
Include any special info you want potential guests to know before booking that isn't covered in other settings.

Interaction with Guest
This property is professionally managed by Link'D Property Team. We are fully equipped to handle all requests as they happen and can be available for any emergencies.

Wonderful location to explore the Yarmouth area
The cottage is wonderful in how eclectic it is. There are definitely several additions on the house, giving it lots of nooks to explore. It is a peaceful place to rejuvenate in, close to Yarmouth and other locations to vist. It was fun watching both the tide and the fog come and go. Had everything we needed for a four day stay.

Great character but underwhelming
Stayed for a weeke with family. Listing does not mention the neighbouring cottage directly between sea and host home. Bedroom was the best part as it was large and comfortable. So much character and a huge, ecclectic book collection , as well as a veritable antique store worth of knick-knacks and furniture. Rooms were smallish and difficult to sit for the three. There was a foul odour throughout the cottage the entire time we were there. Smelled like garbage and mustiness. Gas fireplace was a wonderful addition although it appeared to leak gas resulting in a foul smell. Moat of the dishes were unclean and the property did not provide soap of any kind, in spite of the listing's description. Issues were communicated to propery manager but little to nothing was done to resolve yhe issues. BE AWARE there is an expectation that you will put the tradh, recycling, and compost out for collection mid-week- BEFORE 8AM! - but like us others think this is absurd as the bin was overflowing when we arrived and animals have made a mess if things. Great potential but poorly managed. While there

Great location; Fairly accurate description of this older property
We truly enjoyed the location. Great access to the lighthouse, rural roads, and the city of Yarmouth. The home was quiet and we loved our view of False Harbor. The house was large, but quite primitive, as described. It would be great if a few improvements could be made. The pots and pans were not very clean, some wallpaper was peeling off the ceiling, the house smelled musty, window screens were missing for many of the windows, and the crank out windows upstairs needed repair, as did the shelf by the sink in the downstairs bathroom-which actually fell out of the wall after hanging by a thread! We never received any communication from the management company, but to be fair, we never needed any questions answered. Just figured there would be some sort of connection about our stay.

Best surprise ever!
This house was the most pleasant surprise! Over 100 years old but updated with modern amenities. The shower is amazing! All the charm you would expect from an old house, complete with old quilts, lots of rooms, a fireplace, decorations, books and the occasional squeaky floor board. 😊 We were just in the love with how much room there was, the absolutely stunning views, the sound of the ocean, the porches and windows! The host was great at communication. We WILL be back, don’t plan to stay anywhere else on our future Nova Scotia trips.

Excellent House and Location
This house is charming and has a fantastic view. It is close to Yarmouth, the Cape Forchu Lighthouse and only a few hours to Halifax. The coastline is amazing. The house is clean and updated but still has that historic feel. Our contact was helpful with a minor issue when we got there that was resolved. My only negative is that we didn't have more time to spend there! I would highly recommend this listing if you are ever in the area.

Fantastic property!
We stayed two nights at this property and we didn’t want to go on any excursions away from it because it was so amazing. All the amenities here are the real deal and it was the highlight of our two week vacation.

The property in general was just ok. The most frustrating was the access to building after the long drive to the place at night. The door code did not work and expedia was not of much help. Finally the host Liam was very helpful and got us access to the realtor keys. The rooms were quite congested. The stairway to the upper bedrooms was very narrow. We were promised 2 full baths but upstairs was only a half bath with no door lock and unfinished walls. The lower shower stall leaked at the door. We would not recommend this house for the elderly or disabled.

A lovely stay at the Cottage by the Sea
Loved this property as soon as we drove up to the door--inviting and whimsical, like a fairytale cottage. We called it the hodgepodge cottage because of its obvious history with porches and extra rooms added---each one increasing the charm. It is also a home with beloved books in every room. The kitchen had all the amenities we needed. The larger upstairs bedroom, airy and comfortable, had beautiful views of the false harbor--thankful for the convenience of an upstairs 1/2 bath. Our favorite though, was the deck. Watching the large dramatic tide swings--the perfect spot for an evening glass of wine. Thankful to Liam. Attentive to our needs and a great communicator. Don't miss the Apple Core Lighthouse on the Cape and The Blueberry Fields Bakery in town. One of our favorite stays.

Charming older home with so much character!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cape Forchu. This older home has so much character and the owner's collection/decor of unusual items was so fun to explore and look at. We had a stormy day in and were really comfortable with so many places to sit and read. The bathrooms are clearly newly renovated and we appreciated them being modern and clean. The bed was so comfortable and what a great view to wake to, even in the rain. I can see a lot of love in this home and I'm sure the improvements will continue to blend some new with the special older character. My only suggestion would be to install a grab bar on the window side of the stairs at the top to help/make safer the descent on the curve. WIshing you all the best with your beautiful home and thank you so much for sharing it with us.

This house is lovely, warm and serene. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The kitchen is well appointed and bedroom was very comfortable. (In fact I haven't slept that well in a along time!) The property manager, Liam, was responsive and prompt. While there isn't a lot to do in Yarmouth or Cape Forchu, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would rate the house and surroundings as one of my favorites for total rest and relaxation.
