We had a nice two night stay at the hotel in a compact double. It was definitely compact with just enough room to move round the bed but that was okay. Maybe if they removed the bath fro the shower room and had just the shower it would make more room. The room was too warm and it was quite and effort to open the window as these were heavy sash windows and I had to prop it open with a shoe. Unfortunately we backed on to the ventilation system which was going all night. The breakfast was very nice. It was buffet style but everything was cooked really well. It would be useful to have a second tea and coffee station. The hotel was very well place for everything we wanted to do over the weekend. Parking was an additional cost and we struggled to park when we got back to the hotel.

Currently being refurbished so lovely and clean in places but paint gloss drips and splashes spoilt it. Choice of food at breakfast good. Really was looking forward to the pool which was part of the reason I booked only to find it was closed for refurbishment when we got there. No prior notice of this. Would have affected booking. Staff helpful and friendly.

Lovely, oldie worlded, the staff where friendly and helpful. The room we had was great a bit of space. We would stay again, however we will not dine in for any evening meal, like being back at school, so we only dine in once. Breakfast where fine plenty of choice. Last thing you have to ask them to come into the room to change anything, so tea and coffee etc was not replaced or clean cups or glasses and we where there for 4 nights. Otherwise a lovely stay in Buxton

There was no mention on Hotels.com that swimming pool, sauna and hot tub is beeing refurbished. Average room furniture, could get a better room for much lower price if i knew there is no swimming pool and sauna

The hotel itself was beautiful in the main areas. Our room was the worst we have stayed in. The bathroom had paint peeling off the ceiling, rusty pipes, broken tap, broken toilet seat, the flooring was lifting, mold, no plug for the sink, the net curtain didn’t close and you were seen in the shower. We paid a high amount for this hotel as we specifically wanted to use the spa only to find it was shut for a refurb. We spoke to reception who said the hotel was full and they couldn’t move us. We didn’t want to use the bathroom or shower and spent the evening out of our room only to sleep and leave in the morning as early as possible. Will not be going back nor recommending it.

Very disappointed
One night stay for anniversary and booked as it said there was A swimming pool and spa I was informed that it was closed for renovation even on hotels it said nothing about it being closed. The bathroom was a joke. You had to walk sideways and could barely get on the toilet. Didn’t even try to attempt to use the shower. The rooms were very dark with no access to open the window, just a fan and also the bed was so uncomfortable. I’ve never been in such awful hotel.

Room though large and clean need refurbishment. Plenty of hot water but bathroom dated from about 1985...and looks it. Ground floor open ateas in good condition and cheap parking (£5 per day). Bedrooms need updating though...

A really lovely grand hotel, it looks and feels really luxurious in the public rooms which have been recently renovated. If the same was applied to our room this hotel would have the super wow factor. We will definitely return here
