Remote and Private Getaway
This is the perfect place for a quiet fall getaway for a couple or small family. There is absolutely NOTHING around (exactly what we wanted), so be prepared to BRING ALL FOOD with you!! There are no local stores within 20 minutes. The house itself is quaint and eclectic. The hot tub was great and we used the fire pit on our crisp evenings.(plenty of firewood provided) The river was barely seen through the trees, but we took a stroll of the property and found the water down below. Kitchen amenities are basic with a drip coffee maker and the biggest kitchen sink you’ve ever seen! The downstairs bed was comfortable but watch out for the wood-burning stove in an awkward location between the bedroom door and the bathroom! (esp at night!) We appreciated the host providing linens but the towel selection might need to be updated a bit. Most of them were older and pretty small. We couldnt get the tv to work but it didnt make a difference to us—just mentioning here in case it is important to you. The host lives next door and is readily available if you need anything (but they gave us total privacy). We had no issues with cell reception. We used our phones but didnt connect to wifi. It would be helpful to have a guest book with a few instructions or a map of the property, emergency instructions, local supplies, etc. I’m sure if we asked, they would have told us, but we would prefer to have the information at a glance like many other rental properties do. We would come back!

Peace and relaxation
What a great property and gorgeous area! The cabin is a gem- everything was as described or better! My son loved the game room and my wife adored the hot tub under the stars. Loved the view of the river and mountains in the distance. We even saw a bear on a hike elsewhere in the county!

We really enjoyed ourselves here. The pictures don’t show most of the house, but I can tell you that it’s really nice. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing cabin, adventure awaits
We loved staying at Billyville! The home is lovely and welcoming and the property is absolutely stunning. There are trails through the woods that lead to the river and I had a great time floating in the sun. Billy even brought fresh veggies over and left them for us in the morning. Amazing stay.

Wonderful getaway
Billy Ray was fabulous as host, providing access to kayaks with help of his dear neighbor Ron. Loved the wooded natural setting, complete with fresh eggs from his chickens. Thank you!!

Lovely getaway for family and dog
A really charming and quirky house, perched on an overlook above a bend in the James river. Very friendly host, nice grounds, and plenty to explore in the surroundings. We did some outdoor grilling and a fire in the pit on a very starry night. The kids were disappointed that the hottub wasn't working that weekend, but there were plenty of games and some swings nearby to keep them occupied.

Amazing getaway
No sirens, no jet noise, no traffic noise, and no light pollution. Pack the food and beverages you need for the trip so you don’t need to leave the property. Relax, read books, bird watch, star gaze, hot tub, and enjoy being in the countryside. Billie was extremely friendly and a great host.

Best stay ever
You would be hard pressed to find a better host than Mr. BillyRae and we stay in a lot of places! Mr. Billy even brought us vegetables out of his garden to eat. The pictures online do not do this house or property justice. Everything from the hardwood floors and bedrooms to the river and fruit trees. It was so peaceful with so much to do without even leaving the property. The guys were able to relax when they got in from work and there was plenty for me to do during the day. I cannot say enough good things about this place or Mr. Billy and his neighbors. Hopefully it will be available next time we work up this way so we can stay here again.

Secluded Country Living
If you want seclusion, this is the place for you. Billy Ray's cabin is located about 20-25 minutes from the nearest town of any size, and is very quiet and peaceful. Despite the "remoteness", it is easy to get to - mostly paved road except for a short stretch of gravel road along the James River. The cabin is really amazing - a two story building with a bedroom on each floor, kitchen/living room above and a game room below. A real plus is the hot tub just outside the bottom floor, as well as the campfire "pit". For a secluded getaway with friends, this would be great as Billy Ray is the only neighbor, and he's a great host!
