Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities
The hotel lobby is beautiful but once you get beyond that it is clear the building is a work in progress. The carpets in the stairwell were filthy, visibly in need of being vacuumed, and the walls and doors were scuffed throughout the property. Our first room had an unpleasant odor I felt was similar to old cigarette smell, but the staff insisted it was the old air conditioning unit. They moved us to another room the first night while they claimed to work on that room. We had to move back to it the next day and it was exactly the same as we left it, my partner made a coffee and forgot it in the room and it was still sitting there almost as if no one had come at all, and of course the room still smelled. Ultimately someone was sent to clean the in room AC unit and add fragrance tablets, which somewhat helped. It was our last night and at that point I was over it. The hotel offered us a partial refund to make up for the inconveniences but I ultimately had to contact hotels . com support to actually get it as they never issued it like they promised. The prices of the hotel are very reasonable, and as the saying goes, you do get what you pay for. A studio apartment sized room, very dark, no safes for valuables, and mediocre service. It is an old motel/holiday inn that has been restored (and in my opinion still being restored) so if you are expecting that, it’s okay. I was expecting a little more and felt like they advertised themselves to be nicer than what it is!
