We’ve just had a 3 night stay at Doric, we were pleasantly surprised having read a few poor reviews. The stand out for us being the restaurant staff, very helpful and friendly. The food was nice, especially the lasagne and there was a decent choice of vegetarian options for my daughter.
The room was clean and functional, the main bed was comfortable but the mattresses on the bunk beds were not, my daughters could feel the springs ‘digging’ into them, there also didn't seem to be enough plug sockets, but there were 4 of us all with phones to charge etc.
The general areas at the entrance, bar area, reception and dining area are all pleasantly decorated, however, the stairs and corridors on the first and second floors could do with a refresh, a bit thread bare in places, and we were not at all impressed with the indoor pool, it’s in the basement and is small, and seemed grubby so we didn’t use it at all. The outdoor pool however was very pleasant and it was a shame that the weather wasn’t very good so we couldn’t use it.
Overall, if you’re looking for a good value place to stay in Blackpool, which is clean, functional with friendly staff, I would recommend the Doric.
