Superking beds, spacious and comfortable first floor apartment near town centre

Set in a conservation area of Bishop Auckland, this spacious and welcoming flat is in a great location for visits to Auckland Castle, exploring the Pennines and visits to Durham. Kynren is also a short walk away. After a great day out come back to the gorgeous, light-filled rooms, cosy fireplace, comfortable sofas, speedy internet, super king size beds and spa bath. Couples, individuals, business travellers and families with kids (any age) are all very welcome.

The flat has two large bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for your belongings. The super king size beds (6ft wide), one with 2000 Pocket Spring Memory Foam Mattress and the other with 3000 Pocket Pillow Top Spring Mattress will give you a restful night's sleep. In the sizable living room, the comfy full double sofa bed with memory foam mattress is accompanied by the chaise longue, cosy armchair and mahogany dresser and corner cabinet. The 49" 4K smart TV is in the corner, connected to the fastest internet available in the area (up to 74Mb). You can watch Super HD Netflix, Amazon Video and BBC iPlayer too - the flat comes with its own Netflix and Amazon accounts so no need for a subscription.

Towels, sheets and bedding are all there for you plus shower gel, conditioner and shampoo. The sofa bed is a full double memory foam fold-out version, so no uncomfortable crease down the middle that you get with clic-clac beds. There is plenty of storage for your clothes and belongings in the dresser, allowing you to properly unpack as you wish. In addition to the usual central heating, there is the very cosy gas fire in the living room, which is easy to operate and comes with children's safe guard for those of you with little ones coming to visit. The heating is easily controlled throughout the flat with a Nest thermostat - which also means the apartment will be nice and warm ready for your arrival. If you prefer more tropical temperatures there are also three electric heaters in both the bedrooms and living room.

The dining kitchen is well stocked, both with essentials and with good cooking equipment. There are pots and pans of course, but there's also a slow cooker, steamer, weighing scale and juicer. When you arrive you will find real coffee for the cafetiere and a selection of teas. Herbs and oil are also included. The kitchen has a slimline dishwasher and washing machine too, which will help a lot for those intending to stay longer than a couple of days.

There is bread in the freezer, plus a selection of spreads and cereals. The fridge has a water dispenser, butter and spreads. (You will need to bring your own milk, though). The bathroom has a corner bath with whirlpool jets. There is a standing shower (in the bath) so the bathroom is great for a quick shower before work or for long, luxurious bathing! There is a backyard too for some outdoor, private space away from the street. This is shared with the Regent's Chambers, the flat below, which you can also book.
Make yourself comfortable in this apartment, which features a fireplace and a Smart TV. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. The bathroom with a shower/tub combination features a jetted bathtub and a hair dryer.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Good, but one problem
Spacious, well furnished and equipped Ist floor apartment. But definite health and safety issue. There is no handrail on the stairs up to the apartment, nor are the stairs lit until a light belatedly comes on far too late. If these problems were rectified, it would be an excellent base to explore the lovely little town and its attractions.

Enjoyed our stay
Accommodation was spacious and comfortable with a good heating system. Conveniently located for parking and not far from main attractions. A word of warning though, steps to front door of property could prove problematic for the less mobile. Also side of bath quite high. I only mention this as I’m no longer a youngster. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Convenient
We needed a stopover and this was a really good find. The rooms are big, it’s clean and has everything you need. We found it a quiet and convenient place to stay. We could park right at the door as described. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms warm during winter. Emma (host) was super responsive to all my questions. My one caution is the entry - the stairs are incredibly short (less than an adult foot wide) so not easy to navigate. If we need to stay in BA again, we would definitely be back.

Very comfortable and warm apartment.
A well situated property, close to the Market Place and Auckland castle. We much appreciated how warm and comfortable the apartment is and everything we needed for a lovely stay was in situ. Just one suggestion - as the stairs are quite steep and we are ancient, a handrail would be most helpful.

Great place with a cosy old style home feeling
We stayed for one night and overall were very satisfied the place, here are the pros and cons. Pros: The place gives a very warm, cosy and homely feeling. State of the art heating tech, so heating could be controlled easily. Kitchen had bread butter jam, cereals, coffee machine, kettle microwave, etc for breakfast. Towels were provided for. The jacuzzi bath tub was absolutely lovely (complementarytoiletrieswere there too!) ... sooo relaxing! Everything for babies and toddlers was provided for (travel cot with a cozy duvet and pillow, highchair and also a bath seat). There were alot of board games to play and toys for toddlers. My little one really enjoyed the stay. TV had free channels BBC iplayer as well as a netflix guest account for guests (that was a very nice gesture!) Cons: There was alot of paint peeling from one bedroom, kitchen and bathroom wall. Also the bathroom shelf looked like it needed repair as it was covered in plastic and duck tape. But the host did mention these with an apology in the welcome message. I admit, It put my husband off for a bit but the positives outweighed the negative so we didn't give it another thought. Overall it was a very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing stay. Most holiday homes I've been to the hot water always ran out after one person had a bath or the water pressure would be really bad, but this place was absolutely great!! We had no issue with anything. So I would definitely recommend this place if you are not bothered by the cons. Thank you Emma, for making this stay comfortable and possible in a short time period.

1a Princes Eyrie
We gathered from booking that the flat would be basic but bins hadn't been emptied, no towels on 2 beds and the 1 that was left was wet... bathroom hadn't been cleaned and there was washing left in the machine. Stay suited our occasion but wouldn't be able to stay for more than 3nights with a young family.

Toasty warm, clean and very comfy beds. Great comms from Owner & good recommendations for eating out. Very central location for a catch up with friends. Just a shame about the leaking/ tile damage on the bath which was a bit off putting but hopefully will be sorted for our next visit as we’ll certainly be back, a great find!

Best Chinese takeaway
Comfortable place to stay, large rooms with plenty of light, secure yard for the dogs. "Food " Panda Panda 🐼 the best Chinese takeaway, large portions, more than enough for anyone with a good appetite and the flavours were out of this world, only 6 minutes away from the flat.
